Post Lot's of gear questions??

I want to do gears in my truck. What are the best gears to go with, make and size. I am thinking 3:73's from Ford. Someone posted that they ordered from National Driveline Inc in Chicago IL part # FRPP 3.73s M-4209-H373s. Has anyone else ordered from them and how much with shipping? About how much will it cost to have these installed and what am I looking at for 1/4 mile increase?

Thanks for any help

I did search on this topic but got over 200 matches because people have the word "gear" or "gears" in there sig.

Personally I dont hing 200 rpm is worth the $$ it would cost to do a proper job.If I was to tear into a rear end I would get 410s although it would be much harder to launch.DAMMIT,Leave the gears alone

Up to you of course, but i kind of agree. Unless your changing tires and probably rims for the track, you dont need any more bottom end. I cant go to WOT now and get a good launch. I go to about half and steadily increase to WOT to get off the line. Drop those gears and you're a spinning fool. Besides i get better milage with my 3.55's too.

You didnt list your mods. Air kit seems first more most. I'm afraid of chipps and warranties, so no pulley either, damn it. It's so damn fast now i'm really happy. I'm investing in other areas like sound and lights. Eventually i'll hopefully drop a few G's more on the loan. The 20" chrome wheels are hard to get out a my mind, but thats 3k in chrome and rubber, nope. Good luck.

I have the following mods. JDM flip chip street/race (have not used the race program yet) 90mm mass air meter with 12" big mouth filter and Alumn Drive shaft. I went 13.3 @ 101 this weekend at the JDM meet. I want to get the truck into the 12's. I have the lower blower pulley on order, want to do a shift kit, and the oil cover cap. I have already done most of my dress up mods. Black carpet with Lightning floor mats, sound proofed the cab, lighted logos, trailer hitch plug, tinted windows, bed rug, clear corners, and am working on the stereo right now.

3:73's with slicks and you will be happy, and in the 12's.
Buy the way 4:10's get better gas mileage than the stock gear. That comes from someone who has had both.

Many people are deep in the 12's with 3.55's. Quit wasting your money on the look good foo-foo stuff and spend it on go-fast. Buy some slicks.

Helo all..

If you are looking for relativley cheap and safe gains in ET.. gears are a pretty good option.. Milage will not be affected that much. ( not like these things get good milage ) Traction may become more off an issue.. but just stomping and stearing this truck won't work even when it is stock..

Think about this.. NItto is about to release their 305/40/18 Drag Radial..

Gears and drag radials go together like peanut butter and jelly.. : )
