Unhappy I've been .com'd. :(

I just got laid off today. My "super-hip-we're-the-future" internet consultancy company has been hit with extremely hard times the last 6 months.

I really enjoyed my job there, I'm sad to leave it. The exit package is really nice (5 1/2mo pay), but again, I liked my job.

Guess its time to move on.

I wish you the best of luck. At least they gave you some severance pay instead of just the boot. Hurry up and get a new job and you can use that pay for MODS!!!

I am sweating out Motorola's most recent layoffs... I am an engineer for the iDEN group, we support Nextel's infrastructure. Motorola has been laying off people left and right... not nice!

My utmost concerns for you loosing your job...go to your nearest Hooters and get drunk....then do a good BURN OUT at the FRONT DOOR the good doctor guarantees it...I have an opportunity to get away from telecom....and if possible...I will follow my lead...high tech sucks now I am out of work...first time in 10 years...and at 43...not fun at all...I might have to go back to that Hooters again..do it all ova again...so be it...

Sorry about the job, went through a similar fate with a startup about a year ago. I decided that I needed more stabilty after that incident and went with one of the larger, albeit less personal, IT consulting firms. I don't regret it one bit. If you're a techie-type then don't sweat it, there is so much out there for the asking. Best of luck to you...

Wow, that's a very generous severance package!! Here are some tips from the guy who's had four jobs in 2000 after one job for four years:

1. Monster.com, dice.com, and recruiters are your friends.

2. It's not a layoff, it's a raise.

3. Enjoy your time off, because your vacation time resets at the new workplace.
