THE TRUCK THAT TRUCKS
Mitch Masten turned this innocent Ford Lightning into 600 horsepower, car crushing menace.
Can someone post a synopsis?

in the april 2001 issue, there is a 4 page article about a white '95 lightning. (gen 1)
"the truck that trucks"
11.54 @ 119mph on street tires.(no nos)
its a 600hp 514ci big block.
the owner is going to put a 200hp shot of NOS on it to bump the hp to over 800.
i'm looking at the article right now.
hope this helps.

Frans, the article in the April issue of MM&FF, titled The Truck That Trucks, is 4 pages written by John Hedenburg, and featuring a handful of pictures of a white 1995 Lightning taken by Evan Smith.
Mitch Masten bought the truck in 1998, with no engine or transmission. The original owner had modified the engine, street-raced it, and damaged the engine. Mitch dropped in a crate motor with 514 cubes, with some tweaks to generate 600+ hp!
Mitch also lowered the truck 3 inches, and polished it off with some body work to widen the rear wheel wells.
With limited drag runs, he's clocked a 1.84s at 60ft, ending the quarter with 11.54s @ 119mph.
The May issue of MM&FF has a 10-page article on the 2001's induction system. I just got my issue in the mail a few days ago, so it may not be at the stands yet. I suppose you want a synopsis of that one, too...?

May MM&FF, Production Induction, by Evan Smith, 10 pages, lots of pictures taken by Even Smith. The topic focuses on the intake, supercharger, and heads of the 2001 Lightning.
One downside of this truck is that to swap out the heads and intake, you have to pull the engine.
Close-ups of the Eaton Generation IV supercharger, manifold, intercooler, and heads.
A graph compares pressure drop as a function of mass flow, between the 2000 and 2001 Lightnings.
This looks like a great article for anyone wanting to do mods to a 2001 Lightning engine.
