Post 90mm Q's

Just wandering if anyone has tried the stock airbox(2000) with the 90mm. I was looking at them and the bolt holes line up. thinking about the stealth look. Would this defeat the benefit of the 90mm?
TIA Mike

The bolt pattern is 5 on 135mm. I think a 90 would be too small to handle the torque.

UMMM say what? I think this one got a little off topic! The stock airbox should bolt up to the 90MAF. You may need to open the center hole up to match the 90. Also you will need to open up the bottom of the airbox so it canget enough air, then you will have a stealthy look that works too! Lloyd

Nope, no can do boys. will not fit, you would have to rig it up to form a seal between maf and box.

Yeah I saw that, I was thinking about a o-ring between MAF and airbox and opening the bottom with a cold air hose. Just wandering if anyone had tried this already.

Oh yeah... 90mm is far too small to handle all that torque...

It want defeat the purpose at all if you open the inlet up to 2001 standards or if you open up the bottom. I haven't looked at the fit,but I'm sure you could get some gasket material and make one. I had thought about doing this myself. Let us know how it works out. Thanks Mike

RoadRash,
FYI, If you plan on installing a Ford 90MM from an 01 on a 99-00 you will need a chip or your truck will be running lean. The meters are not the same.

On the outside the connector will work and it may bolt on but the transfer function is not the same. Meaning the 99-00 PCM will not read the voltage output from the meter the same as a 01 PCM would.

The calibration in the PCM'S are different & The Meters are not calibrated the same.

Just helping!!

awhittle,
I'll second that!!
I don't think needing a chip will hold anyone back on this board. It's just the excuse that is needed to get a chip.

Yes, you know what is in the mail. Just an observation and wondered if anyone who had done it liked it.

Can anyone with a 01 give me the calibration code on the drivers side door plate? I have a 00 and want to put the 90 on but the dealer says it needs that code # ?? Make sense??

I was wondering if you could do that... upgrade an 00's program with the 01 program.

You'll need 3.73's or have the dealer reconfigure back to 3.55.

And I think you'll need more that just the "CUX2" code... someone needs to give you the whole string of numbers on their sticker.

DreaminAboutL,
Looking at the wiring diagram for 99.5-00 & the diagram for 01. All pin locations are still the same. Some changes have been made as fare as shielding the CID SENSOR and harness placement on the engine might be different.

Don't have a 99.5-00 L to compare to my 01. I would contact the SVT Tech line to confirm. All connectors are still the same. If someone were to do this they would need to run the Ford 90mm maf.

The person should also install the 3.73 ring and pinion.

Much of this would be pointless if a 01 lower intake and intercooler was not being installed also. The pressure build up would be greater in the 99-00 lowerintake do to the restrictions it already has and the addition of more air from the 90mm maf. Would not run as well as expected! Just my .02

Would be nice if it could be done! Who's First?
