Shift Kit questions?

Shift Kit questions?
I was wondering for all of those individuals who have installed a shift kit how difficult is the install? I mean on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being as hard as replacing an air filter and 10 being something only an expert would tackle. Also, about how long would it take?
Thanks for all your help, I am just trying to decide if I would like to perform this mod.

It took me about 3 hrs. from start to finish if I remember correctly. Not difficult at all if you have dabled with cars/trucks before.VERY MESSY, though.Line your work area with a throw-away blanket or something, because you will spill fluid.Difficulty? I would rate it a 3. But the mess rating a 10! Just follow the instructions carefully and DO NOT overtighten the pan bolts even if you are tempted to do so.LOL.

NIXSVT,
Your so right, I have all kinds of stuff on my mind and I can still think of what to do to my truck! Shoot, I am thinking of gears since the speed limit in OH is 65 I won't run as high of rpm's! These trucks are addictive! I will be in town this weekend, I may see you out. I will be leaving for good around the 19-20. Take it easy.

Personally, I think mine's better. I do exactly the same thing as the Level 10 kit,(dirty little secret, but it's true, I replace the same parts, using parts near identical to the Level 10 kit, AND i rebuild the rest of the body) but I do the dirty work, provide a new accumulator and for the same price as a Level 10. Doing this isn't hard, and if you're comfortable by all means do it yourself, but for the money I think I offer a real bargain and I have some stories from people who came to me after they said "oops", and I eliminate that. I beleive that a few of my customers have posted here, I think they're pretty happy.

I concur with what everyone else has said. I have done engine work, installed transmissions, blowers, etc...and the shift kit isn't hard...but you will get your hands in the nasty trans fluid, you'll get it on your shirt, etc. Definitely get lots of newspaper/junk towels, etc.
I have installed the TransGo shift kit in my L and my '00 Expedition. I don't care if you have a chip or not, its the best $100 you can spend, I think.
I can't imagine _not_ having it in there.

I believe Factory_Tech is right. I think his modified accumulator is much easier to install than the shift kit, and the shifts are just as good, if not better!! I am really happy with mine, and it only took me about 45 min. to an hour to finish the complete job. The shifts are right where I wanted them to be!!
Thanks,
Justin
