I told him these trucks come from the factory with no bracket, he said to modify it so i can put one there, does anyone have a plate on the front of their L, it looks terrible and i dont wanna do it. He didnt give me the ticket though. I think he doesnt like that I am 18 and drive an L. he can kiss my A@$

a lot of places require front license plates. i had to have one on mine. there is a bracket that is supplied from ford for it. after awhile you dont even notice it anymore. its no big deal really. and the law is the law.

I don't know about NJ, but in many other states, if the vehicle came with a way to hold a front plate, and the front plate is a requirement, you must have it...if it didn't come with a mount (like on a Corvette) you don't have to have one...tell him to suck off! and tell him not to be mad because he bought a Chevy instead of an Oval!!!

Cool

Front plate legally required here in CA. Haven't had one on my vehicle since 1984. Been stopped a number of times, including 118 in a 65, but cops have never even mentioned the missing plate. Very few municipalites enforce the law, West Hollywood and Port Hueneme being the two I know of, so I stay out of Port Hueneme and West Hollywood. If I were to ever get cited I would go to the agency that cited me and video the cops coming to work in their private cars. Lots of them don't have front plates, either. Then I would go to court and play the tape, and argue selective enforcement. Heck, I think you could just video some traffic and show the judge all the vehicles w/o plates and argue selective enforcement.

Don't drill that "L"!! Most states that require it simply say it must be on the front of the vehicle and don't say exactly where. Usually in that case you can toss it on the dash and it will suffice. VA has the 2 plate law but so far I haven't been hassled yet. I refuse to scar up a limited edition vehicle to please some politician. That being said I feel some of ya'll need to work on your civil disobedience skills.

Yea the front plate doesn't "look right" on the front of a Lightning. Thankful the dealer drilled the front bumber on my truck before I picked it up. I say thankful, because I didn't have a choice, so now I have a plate on the front. And the cop doesn't have a builtin reason to pull me over. And yes I had a front plate on my 99.

Front plate is required in NJ. There is a specific height it is supposed to be, but I've never seen it persued that far. If you stick it in your window, you should be fine.

I'm running without a plate on the front. Only time I got ticketed for it was when I got a parking ticket. It was $44 for no plate.

I still have mine if you want it. We don't need them here in Florida and I should still have it under the drivers seat. Email me if you want it.

Oh, fer cryin' out loud! Put the friggin' plate on...it's the law. If you don't, he can just make your life miserable. Say 'Yessir', 'Nosir', and have fun when he's not around.

Last week I got my third speeding ticket in three months (I've had the L 5 months). On that ticket he also wrote me for no front plate (it's like another $60 or so).

Be glad you were let go.
