2001 Lightning 'Clunk Insurance'
Got my washers from Herb Jackson the other day and I must say they really look to be high quality. I purchased them just in case my 2001 Bolt develops the 'clunk'. From previous posts on this board, this seems to be the 'fix' of choice. Has anyone with a 2001 Lightning had the problem with the lower control arm bolts yet?

I heard a clunk the other night while pulling forward, I got out and realized I just ran over my socket case. DOH!

I don't know if I have the "clunk", but I do have a "pop" in the front end when I turn the truck sometimes. Not very often, but I've heard it 4-5 times in about 3,500 miles. The "pop" that I've heard is on the passenger side, near the front tire. Does this sound like the infamous "clunk"??

All:
Please check my recent post regarding "The Clunk". I think it was titled "2001 Intercooler Leak and Clunk", or something like that. It's all explained there.
As far as "The Clunk" goes, if you have over 100 miles on your 'Bolt and you haven't fixed "The Clunk" (not "The Scrape", which is fixed by lubing the steering stops, but "The Clunk"), then guess what? YOU HAVE THE CLUNK! All Lightnings get it, and get it young. I've met a few Lightning jockeys out there who have driven 20,000 miles or more and never developed the clunk. Of course, I always take a look under the driver's side front, and guess what? The A-arm is nearly worn through from the thing sliding around. Trust me, if you haven't fixed "The Clunk", you have "The Clunk". Several possible fixes, the washers look like the top candidate. Not the only solution, mind you, but probably the best (and most expensive).
