Cool Gawkers - L vs. 911

A friend of mine just bought a Porsche 911 Carrera. Very clean, very nice car. He had it at a local tire shop to get some new tires mounted on it, so at lunch yesterday he and I went by so I could scope out his new car. While we're looking at the car several employees come out to gawk....at my L. The L. and the 911 were sitting side by side, both white, and the L was getting all the attention. I had to chuckle. You gotta love these trucks.

Right on. That's what I love about my truck the most: the rarity of it. Think about it, there are 20,000+ 'Vettes produced a year, 15,000+ Porches, 40,000+ Mustangs, but only ~5K a year of the Lightnings. People just don't see them, so the stares that I get are priceless. I love having something no one else has.
And I also like knowing every other Lightning owner in my area. That's pretty cool too.

p.s. I am guessing on all those production numbers.

I have one on each in the garage and get the same response. Of course 911s have been around for almost 40 years and the L is new. I'm sure if I had a new twin turbo that L would lose out.

These trucks are great---I have yet to go into a gas station (which I seem to visit alot at 11mpg) and not have at least one or two people ask me about the truck or make a good comment on it. I'm sure this will happen even more after I lower it and put on the chrome wheels!
