Question Any induction available for '01 L?

Airaid doesn't have an induction kit out, and they said that they might not make one since there won't be enough of a demand for them. So, does anybody know if there is an induction kit out for the '01's?

Thumbs up

There are some folks on the board with JL's Ram-Air installed on their '01's.

I think that the Airaid kit for the 99/00's will fit the 01's.

I wouldn't go with the airaid intake.

if you just want something to put on then go with the JL ram air kit, its the best out there now. If your willing to make your own then I would do that. I did mine and I think its the best that I have seen by far. how can you beat a 4 inch steel mandral bent pipe that puts the air filter down to the ground. thats the fastest and the coldest air possible right there. I have pics if you want to attempt this.

P.S. the 4 inch pipe works awesome with the 90mm.

Any of you guys with the ram air sucking up any water while it's raining or just driving through puddles? My 300ZX TT had a low intake like that and drank a big gulp of water while driving through a fairly shallow puddle, that turned out to be a costly mistake.

That's the concern that I have as well Adam. I don't want to hydrolock an engine for a few HP.

I doubt any water could make its way up this pipe

I am putting the Airid on my 01, but I am making the ram air hood on my truck functional since cervarni (sp) is taking so long on there kit. I am going to attempt to duct the air from the hood opening to the filter using a brake duct, and some flexable brake hose. I will let yall know how it turns out

JL Ram Air all the WAY
IMHO there is no way the JL ram air will suck up water I would like to see one documented case of this!! I had a Z06 with a closed ram air system(bottom feeder - 2" above the pavement) and have driven in heavy rain for hours at a time with ZERO problems The JL ram air with the exposed filter could not possibly have the necessary pressure to ingest water.

Question

Has anyone tried to pressurise the fenderwell, between the inner liner and the fenderwall? That would also have a very small chance of water ingestion since it would be a big volume with low speed and (hopefully) high pressure.

There's no doubt that JL's ram air kit will work, but it's incredibly low to the ground. When it rains here, we get some BIG water puddles. If the filter goes down into the water, it will definitely suck water through the filter and to the MAF. I don't see any amount getting into the engine, but it will still cause problems IMO.

Trevor D,
The filter is 3+ feet off the ground (same position as stock) in the engine compartment and the scoop under the truck where the air enters is 8" off the pavement at its lowest point on my truck. If it were possible for water to enter the filter it would have to climb 3+ feet through the "S" shaped pipe
Good luck on whatever system you decide to purchase!

you don't have problems with the electrical in the rain looks like it would be bad on air filters and what about the heat comming off the payment in thr summer? why not leave the mass air up to the top?
