1meanz, I went through the same decision as you are going through. Try making a list of what you expect to haul and how often you expect to haul it. Although I don't believe there is a 'perfect' solution for a bed protector, I opted for the Bed Rug and am glad I did.

I did my BedRug this past sunday. My bed looked terrible after the sand in the back tore it up this past winter. Here is a b4 and after...

Question

After seeing this post I am seriously thinking about a bed rug. Just a few questions.

I am putting a roll bar on my truck in the future. Is is easy to cut the bed rug to accomidate this?

How hard is it to install? Will it take me all day, an hour???

Does it keep dirt/water from getting inbetween the bed rug and the bed and rusting/rotting the bed?

Thanx for your help guys.
Travis

Took me a leisurely hour to install mine - it's only velcro

Cutting it for a rollcage, tiedowns, etc., requires only a sharp knife or razor.

95,
Take that part that is bulging up and tuck it down between the endgate and the bed. Lokks alot better and works fine.

Hey everyone,

I installed a bedmat that I bought at a local truck shop here in KC. It's a 3/8" thick rubber mat with ribs up and down the length. It has a pebbly surface on the bottom. Then I put a plastic cover on the inside of the tailgate. I can slide things in and out easily on the tailgate because of the plastic, without worries. Then, once it's on the rubber mat, IT WILL NOT SLIDE. That mat holds things to itself like glue. It's amazing. I've hauled furniture, antique desks, tools, hockey equipment, and I keep a storage box with my hitch accessories, tie downs, jumper cables, blanket, etc. in it at all times, and it never moves at all. I keep that right behind the cab in the middle of the bed. It doesn't matter how hard I take a corner, stuff just won't slide around back there. I don't have protection on the sides, or the front of the bed. I haven't ever had to really slam on the brakes with something back there, though. I'm sure that would break anything loose that wasn't tied down. The mat was about $40. and the plastic tailgate cover was about $25. I'm very happy with the setup. It also makes for easy cleaning because the mat comes out without any struggle. It's made for my bed perfectly, it even had the proper cuts for the corners by the tailgate. And water isn't a concern at all with it.

I had Line-X sprayed in the first week I owned the truck, and I am very satisfied with the results.

Hey 95--I agree work on that tonneau cover.I use a 1 or 2 inch round wood closet pole .Roll it tight and it always looks dead straight against the cab.Try it...you'll like it!!!

Obviously you missed my post...that I don't care. Nice tip though, but the only reason it was rolled up was because I was working on installing the rug. 99.9% of the time...I have the cover on, the other .1% is only when I am working on the bed, or hauling something, and I don't care how it looks then.

Question

Hey Seattlesnake,
Did Line-x have a Silver color spray to match your paint or did you just want the Black?

The particular Line-X dealer that I went to only had black available, but if I had wanted another color it could have been ordered.
I would have had to pay the extra cost for a custom color they didn't have in stock, but I think I would've chose black anyway.

I got line-x put in mine I wouldn't put anything else. I the last two weeks, I've hauled thousands of pounds of gravel, bricks and dirt. One quick spray with a water hose and you can' tell anything was ever in there.

Hey Saleen,

The bed rug looks good. I’m not sure I like the way that slack sticks up by the tailgate.

You have to learn how to role up a bed cover.
