Question what should I do for bed protection?

I don't plan on hauling greasy motors or anything but I will have a thing or two back there. I don't like a plastic throw in liner because I don't know what's going on underneath. I kind of like the spray in liners such as rhino lining but am leary of somebody scuffing the bed and spraying crap in my new $32k truck. I thing a rug would end up stained and the bed wont always be covered. I need the sides protected in case of something sliding so I guess that rules out a mat. What do you guys/gals think/use?

I've had a BedRug in mine for two years. No problems staining or not covering the sides and it's still real comfy to take a nap in between qualifying passes at Fun Ford. I have hauled motors, trannies, and other non-desirable stuff in there and just hit it with some Simple Green and then pressure wash it and it comes clean every time.

Hope this helps!

I bought the BedRug. It is everything everyone said about it, & more. I got mine from Rick at http://www.rkkustom.com/main.html

Rick was great to deal with. Quick e-mails and it was shipped and arrived quicker than I expected. They are marine grade carpet that is chemical & oil resistant.

I'm not related to or affiliated with Rick or RK in any way. Good product and service, deserves good word of mouth advertising.

Bedrug for sure.

Makes the bed nice enough to sleep in and tough enough to do a little hauling...

Vacuums up nice...

Just looked at bedrug.com. Looks pretty cool. I always pictured it as something similar to what is in my living room with no side protection. Couple questions. Do you get to keep your tie-downs that are in the bed(all 4)? What about rain? It says waterproof but... You guys all have some type of bed cover? How does it install? Are there holes to be drilled? Thanks everyone.

it is held on with heavy duty velcro. for the tie downs what I did was take a razor blade and cut a 2 inch slice at about the bottom of the tie down. then you can just push the tie down throug the small slice.

I agree about the BedRug, also got mine from RKkustoms, great price and service. Take the tie downs out(2 screws) install bedrug and then reinstall tie downs. Looks real good this way.

My bedrug seems to dry within about an hour of the time it stops raining. It is the way to go

Unhappy

Guess I'm the odd man out. I got a Line-X Spray in liner. I just wanted something to protect the bed if I wanted to throw something back there now and then. It looks great and... it's not as bad when it gets wet. I'll try to get some pics.

Cool

One word...Bedrug The best money spent for protection and looks. I bought one for my 99 when new, took it out when I traded the truck in and reinstalled in the 01 and the Bedrug still looks new. I just took a punch to locate the holes to mount the tie-downs and mounted the tie-downs over the Bedrug, Looks like it came from the factory!

plan to haul a 150lb. fiberglass boat(i fish only in small ponds) in my soon to come 01L. currently carry it in my 97 f150xlt bed with a rubber bed liner being used. have to slide boat in and out--will classy bedrug take that kind of punishment--sand, grit, etc. on bottom of boat...?

BED RUG

LROD,
In regards to your boat question, I think the only part of the Bed Rug that might take a hit is the cloth fabric edging on the tailgate. Other than that, I think they are pretty bullet-proof.

BedRug is definitely the way to go, but I don't think I would have it without a tonneau of some kind. Would spend too much time cleaning. Just my opinion.
