Question Pics of home made ram air??

I saw a post from ?KGM? that he cut the bottom of the box and ran flex duct 3" or 4" to the bumper. I would like to see some pics of this work. I am not read y for the noise of a 12" open filter. Thanks for your help..

I am in the procces of building a ram air for mine. I only need one more peice. I have a snorkle that I trimmed so it fits in the upper grill. I have some 3 inch flexable tubing. I am having my muffler shop make me a 3 inch tube with a flange on it that I can mounted on the underside of the stock air box.

I should have some pics of it by this weekend

I found some pics. I think I am going to use 3" brake duct hose. How does your setup sound over stock??

Question

How about pressurising the fender well ?
That way the chance of inhaling water is smaller and the stock look underhood is retained.

Got the Ram air in, still have to do some more work , I don't like the hose I am using. I know where to get some better stuff but the place closes at 5:30 but this will work for now.

Here it is before instalation

here is where the air enters the box

here is where the scoop gets the air, Unless you know where to look I bet you cann't see it.

I wish I could take credit for the idea of hiding the scoop inside the uper grill, but it was Jim at JDM who gave me the idea. Once I get the black hose it will even look better.

Don C...What do you think about the system? Is that a 3" hose and are you going to put in a K&N filter? I like the scoop in the grill.

Cool

Have any of these setups been track tested? I'm just trying to get an idea of how effective they are because I'm looking to do the same thing.

KGM So far I love it. It is 93 degrees out today, and I can feel the differance in power from yesterday when it was 90 out and running the cone filter.

On the highway in this morning it really screamed.

Yes I have a K&N filter, and it is a 3 inch tube

Exclamation

I have done the same (4" tube under the air box). Although there may be an issue with running both the fender and the 4" tube under the airbox at the same time. It may cause cavitation in the airbox for the air sensor. Jim has informed me that he will be investigating this real soon. On my firt ever dyno, my HP numbers were down, 319HP/413 Tq. This dyno was done WITH the 4" tube in place along with the fender inlet. Jim suggested that I remove the 4" tube until he verifies the theory and redyno the L again. I want to add a great thanks to Jim for opting to take the time and special interest to help me resolve my 2001 low HP issue.....

THANKS JIM!!!!!

Don C,
How often do you have to clean the lint screen for the flex duct?

Oh man there is allways one of these guys floating around. Hehe hey it is ok I can take a joke. Yes it is a dryer duct, and I hope to replace it soon, but wanted to try it out and see if it works first before I buy the expensive hose.

One thing I will say is that it seems to work awsome especialy on a 93 degree day.
