Question Drive in the rain or not...

I have had my L for a month now and have yet to drive it in the rain or park it outside over night. I wonder when I will drive it in the rain? I don't want to because I want to keep it clean and don't want the under carriage to rust away. I guess it is a matter of time. I can drive my company truck but that is not much fun either... What do you fellas do? Later Terry

Rust in Texas, isn't that an oxymoron?

L8APEX,

It's salt that cause rust. If you are worry about rust, just drive something else when they salt the road in the winter. Most of Texas doesn't use salt, but they started using a mixture of salt and sand in DFW last year... Rain isn't going to hurt the truck.

Unhappy

While bringing my truck home new from the dealer (out of state), I had to drive through nasty downpour of rain. I knew that the truck was as watertight as a ducks butt then. As we got closer to home it was snowing. This is my babys first day at home in Nevada.

Prefer not to, 'cause I just have to wash it after, but, hey, it's a truck not a temple!!

Oh I never drive mine, I don't want to expose it to ant elements including UV rays.
I just keep in wrapped in plastic 24/7.

Why would rain hurt a Ford F-150?

Mine's a daily driver, so it gets driven in the rain, but only if it's raining.

My 00 lives outside. I don't think that it has spent more than a handfull of nights in the garage.

I have a machine shop in one bay, my 67' Mustang in one bay and the Shelby Cobra replica in the last one. My wife's truck sits outside too!

I drive mine daily rain or shine. Believe it or not, mine has looked like 01 arrestmered's. We have a cabin in the San Bernadino Mts., and had about 5' of snow up there.

Drive it and enjoy it!

L8:

Don't let him scare you.

I've only heard of people leaving the Lightnings outdoors at night. But, I've never actually seen it done...

Mine has only been rained on four times in 2 years. Not bad for Florida....

I like your style already...

Rain what's rain. Never seen it never will. It's much easier to keep clean that way.
He11 I have an '87 Mustang that's never seen rain. I know, I know ... I'm nuts.

I have an SHO that is my daily driver, so I don't drive the Lightning in the rain or snow. It's been caught in rain once on the way back from the 2000 WFC. You'd be surprised what rain does to a vehicle. It's not just the water, it's the dirty spray that gets kicked up by the wheels, it will put dirt everywhere. Water does cause rust, but what makes things rust on a car is dirt that traps the water letting it sit.

Drive it in the rain or not? - Not, if I can help it but sometimes that's a challenge in Florida during the summer months. Hey if you keep a good coat of wax on the undercarriage it won't hurt it. At least that's what I've heard.
