Talking Went to the track today check out my times!

So I went to the track today the one in Wisconsin "Great lakes dragaway" anyways keep in mind that this was my first a the track and I din't have an idea as in how to launch or any thing like that and I left everything on the truck included all of my audio equipment wich weights a least 100lbs and the spare tire, and the only mods are straight pipes so here are the results:
temperature was around 70 degress
First run: Second run:

R/T.....853 ........663
60'.....1.991 ........1.971
330 ...5.760 ........5.733
1/8....8.832 ........8.810
MPH....80.37 ........80.09
1000....000 .........000
1/4.....13.744 .........13.736
MPH.....99.51 .........99.21

I ran a couple more times but my times just went up to 13.83 and 13.90 because the engine was getting hotter so those times above were my best times, there were a couple other guys with lightnings at the track one of them had a 2001 that was running 13.9s and 14.0s and a 2000 that had many mods like a chip a JL Ram air kit mass air flow sensor a shift kit and a torque converter and his best time was like 13.7s
but most of the times that he ran it it ran like 13'8s but he knew how to launch it and I didn't know how so I guesss my times were decent compared to he's or what do you guys think? I mean I was kinda surprised that my 2000 lightning was faster than the 2001 and almost even with the other 2000 that had many mods, most of the people that saw my truck were asking me what mods I had and they were so surprised when I said that it was stock! so what do you guys think of my times ? and what should I do to my truck to make it go faster? and can you guys give me some tips in how to launch it? like power braking it or just easy of the line and then just slowly step on it? I'm going to the track aging next week and see if i can improve those times

Congrats, those are good times for the first time out.

It doesn't take a lot of fancy parts to get you down the 1320 any quicker, just the right combination will work just fine LOL
Any idea on what type of convertor that L had?

As for launching tips on F1's, I am as useless as they come for that.Drag Tires is all I race on. I tried them in the beginning, but that was way too expensive for me

Remember, keep track of the B.P. as well as Humidity, they play a big role in your ET's.

hanks for the tips Spiro, nest time I'll go to the track I'm going to keep track of B.P. and humidity, ans as far as the other lightning's torque convertor I'm no sure because I dind't ask the guy but he's friend the one in the 2001 told me that he had one so thats all I know about it, it sound it really nice when he's truck was shifting to second gear you could hear a chirp of the tires, I just wish mine had a couple of those mods, but who knos may be soon

Cool

Congrats on your times and 1st time to the track. I went for my first time when I was 16, and it's been downhill ever since.
As for launching on the stock F1's, if the track will hold it, you will net your best 60' from launching off idle. This allows the converter to flash more, and it will net the quickest 60' typically. However, not all tracks are prepped well enough to allow you to do so. If that's the case, then you need to start stalling it up some. I'd start at 1,000 RPM and go from there. If it sticks, then I'd keep that RPM launch. You want to get away with the lowest RPM launch in order to net the best overall times. Also, if you'll drop the tire pressure in your rear tires some it will help w/ the spinning. I wouldn't take 'em lower than 22 psi or so. Anything lower than that, and they may start "cupping" in the center of the tire, causing even more traction problems. Should your track be so bad that you're still spinning when flooring it off of your highest RPM launch, then you're going to have to "roll" into the throttle. If you have to do this, then you're really hurting your times. Since you're cutting high 1.9 60' times, I think your track is hooking pretty well. From what I've read, low 1.9's are the norm for a stock L w/ full traction.
Have fun, and let us know how the next trip goes.
