Question Lightning Substitute

If you were to get rid of the Lightning for another vehicle that is priced up to $60K, what will you settle with?

Performance of course has to be on par with our baby.Considering Z-06 but I don't know if it's practical as a daily driver.

I'm using the L right now as a daily driver.

Question

Was this a bad translation or something? That question doesn't make sense. There is no way to form a sentence that has any meaning containing the words Lightning, the, get, of, and rid. All your base are belong to us.

Cool

Until I started reading these truck boards, I had no idea how much power one could coax out of a power stroke.
Might be fun to hotrod a turbocharged oil burner. But that doesn't really answer the question does it.

If there was another vehicle that could replace a L, I would've considered it during my initial purchase research. However, Lightnings are just too unique to be adequately replaced by a single vehicle. Nothing else I found gives the same amount of performance and utility in a single vehicle, and believe me, I looked.

Sacrificing ALL the utility, however, I would consider these vehicles:

1. Honda S-2000
2. Porsche Carrera
3. Porsche 914
4. Subaru Impreza WRX

Of that list, the WRX is the one I personally would get if I didn't need the utility of a truck. I lust for AWD, it's different, it looks good (to me), and it's almost as mod-friendly as a L. It's also the same price as a new L.

After an exhaused search for a replacement of my 99 Lightning, I have found a worthy replacement. A silver 2001 Lightning!

Cool

There is no replacement! I HAVE to have a truck so that I can pull my drag car. The L is my daily driver, and I love it. The gas mileage can be a bit unnerving at times, but it's not easy propelling a 4800+ lb. truck to low 13's w/ two easy bolt-ons! If I was to get rid of my L, I would probably get an ext. cab PowerStroke. That's when I'd step up to an enclosed car trailer for the drag car, and I'd start the modfest all over again. While this is a "replacement" for the L, it doesn't compete at all considering what the L was built for. The L has the market on a true performance sports truck. I've been a die-hard GM guy, and the L is the first Ford that I've owned. Nobody else (ahem Chevy) has the b@lls to build an awesome truck to compete w/ the L, so I went with what was out there. Should Chevy build something bigger and badder down the road (which are BIG shoes to fill), then I might consider it. Until then, there really isn't a replacement. Show me another 13-second bone-stock car hauler?

Since it will never happen I would look for either a used Viper or a used NSX that would cost under 60k.

High five on the WRX, BlackBolt. As crazy as it sounds, I'm still in lust with that car, even after purchasing my L! What can I say, I'm a true believer in lightweight AWDs... If I could justify having one along with my L, I would - but I can't. :\
