Question New 01L Input on aftermarket goodies

I'm new to the f150 online. Recently purchased a 01 L and got the rid of the Vette. One of my better choices.

Looking for any recommendations on cat back systems. Seem to see alot of you have chossen Magnaflows on this site any input on the Gibson systems? Any problems with the annoying hum in the cab at low rpm's? Had Borlas on the vette and they blew.

On air in how does PSP vs AirRaid match up. I'm in SoCal does it cause any hassles with smog emissions testing.

Any other big bang for your $ additions.

Great site, thanks for your input.

You're not going to get anything from a exhaust or air filter with a stock baseline L.

Maybe oneday if you do a LOT of things to the L then this fact COULD change, why I don't know.

I have the Magnaflows and I can feel a bit of a difference and sound but not $200 worth.

I was told by PSP that Airaid is the best for the Lightnings.
Straight pipes is the only exhaust modification that produces horsepower gains.
This is my understanding...

Question

I was told the Pro-M Mass Air was best for the L. Are they all about the same or is there a best?

I checked with the CA air quality board and here is their take - any change to the air intake (excludes just changing filter elements) without a CARB exemption (only the K&N FIPK has one) is a no-no -- I changed mine to the big mouth filter and will change back to stock at smog check time - (I did verify this with a smog check station and was told I would fail without a CARB sticker - good luck with whatever choice you make and congrats on your new L --
