Question Sorta off topic: What do you think of the 01 GT's

My wifes car has been giving some trouble, I think we are gonna replace it. Well, I have been thinking about the 2001 Mustang GT Deluxe Coupe, 5-speed. What do you guys and gals think of the 01 GT's?

Can someone who is a member of www.eaa.org check for me and see if the 01 GT is elligible for the X-plan through EAA?

My sister has one, and she loves it. I have driven it, and I can definately say its quicker than the old ones. Also, the interior is revised and they (finally) offer an in-dash 6CD changer.

We just got my brother a 2001 Rousch Mustang. He loves it. He's had no complaints and says it runs perfect. I've drove it a few times. It's a nice car and I am lucky enough to say I've been able to drive a lot of sports cars and this is one of my favorite. (This is coming from someone who used to own a Camaro and still own a Vette, so to hear me say I like a mustang. It's got to be able to impress me.)

I was a bit disappointed in them when I raced one the other day with my Audi TT and beat it. The guy (new Stang GT) was tailgating the hell out of me, so as we approached the interstate, I shifted into the turbo power zone, and off we went - I pulled him steadily (not by much - but was slowly & steadily pulling him) to about 125 at which point being the safety minded guy that I am, backed off. He went whizzing by, continuing to accelerate. I spied him later down the road, got his attention, and off we went again to over 120 with the same results. Now admittedly, he would have eaten me for breakfast off the line, but I would have thought it could have done better in the mid and upper ranges. An L would have run over my back under the same circumstances.

I LOVE them. The exhaust note is beautiful, the new retro rims are cool, and the hood induction flare is a good addition. Get one in black...

They are not bad I guess, I raced one. A black one.

We went to the other highway.

And he finally passed me at 125. Keep in mind I just figured out my truck shifts into 4th gear at 110, and we know how well it accelerates at that speed. I am still kicking myself for not getting batteries.

How about the new Subura Impreza WRX, all wheel drive, 5speed, 14.3 in the 1/4, all for around $25k.

I'm with the Cap'n. I'd take an Impreza WRX in a heartbeat, sink a few hundred into some aftermarket mods, and start nailing some mid/high 13s and hand GTs and LT1s their lunch. Plus it's 4 doors, better gas mileage, cheaper insurance, AWD, etc.
