Question Is this a good deal for an L?

I have been thinking of getting an L for sometime now (past few months) and have the opportunity to purchase a used one from carmax for about 22K, is this a good deal? I have not seen the truck yet and it is a black 99 w/about 38K miles on it. If I do decide to purchase is there anything that I should look for in the walkaround and test drive? I have read that there are problems w/the intercooler leaking, how will I know if this is happening? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

99WhiteLight, you got mail. I'm actually in Maryland so might not be possible.

Still interested in any other responses though, thanks.

Does the truck have the extended warranty??

If not, may not be cost effective

Carmax is offering a extended warranty through them, but because they are not an SVT dealer I'm not sure how great it really is. Help!

I bought a new 2000 off the showroom with full warranty for $25,990.

If it isn't the manufacturer warranty, it is trouble. Been there, done that, got the scars -- JMHO

Ivanhoe_Farms, thanks for the advice. I was also a bit skeptical about the warranty, especially if I actually have to bring it back it will likely be to carmax and not to an authorized SVT dealer for service.

I really hate this bug!!! It makes you crazy, and makes mortal men decide to put down 30K at almost the drop of a hat. I guess I will have to get some self control and save up more and get a 02 or 03 model.

Thumbs up

I'll sell you my '99 Black Lightning w/ 12,000 miles on it. Never modified, never ran down the drag strip, never put on the dyno. Intercooler does not leak and has shown no signs of it yet, and the truck still has the remainer of the factory warranty. The truck has never been to the dealer for any type of warranty problem. The title is free and clear and I own this truck (not financed).

This truck is as nice as the others IMHO.

I'll take $22,500 right now! What do you think?
