Question Fog lense question for those who have replaced them

For those of you that have ordered the Mustang GT 87-93 fog lenses from (800) MUSTANG for $17.00:

Do they fit without too much problems??

From what I understand they are clear. Do they look good?

They look pretty good in clear, but they also come in smoked (which I had), yellow, and a carbon fiber look. All are standard GTS parts. The specific part numbers can be found on this site, I would suggest searching on GTS.

Hope this helps....

Jim,

Try these guys:

http://www.rallylights.com/search.asp

These are the Hella replacement lenses for our foglights. They say these are tempered as opposed to the non-tempered lense from Ford. He promises me they will not shatter from heat and cold water.

Enter part number 65071 for the search. Had them to me in two days.

Whoa What4!
I was gonna replace one of my broken lenses from Ford & they wanted big $$-I don't remember but it was a lot. I looked at the replacement & original and guess what, it was a Hella part! (inspect the lens closely, you'll will see Hella on the OEM part). They also wanted to replace the entire assembly-bucket & all. I went to a local 4x4 shop and got a Hella replacement lens/enclosure for about $40.00 (still too much) but I can't turn on fogs in rain. If it's Hella glass, it will likely shatter in rain.

so, do the fog lights from the 91-93 mustang fit directly into the "L"?
If so I might order those yellow ones, just to be different

This is info. that Sixpipes posted over on NLOC. He claims no problems since replacement ~20,000 miles ago.

You are correct K_Schmidt. I was not disputing whether they are Hella lenses. In fact I know they are, even the same part no. All I can tell you is what the Hella rep. said. Time, of course will tell. It wouldn't surprise me if Ford didn't pay to temper them.

I replaced mine last night with the Hella 65071's from P.U.M.A. (www.puma-access.com). $79/pair including overnight shipping. Only problem was the size of the ground wire tab. The new ones had the large one, so I had to put new large female tab ends on the existing wire. They look and work like the originals, let's hope they last longer!

I purchased a pair of yellow ones for 87-93 stangs from www.summitracing.com for under 35 bucks a piece. You will need to swap over the connector because they have changed since then, otherwise a simple swap.

And YODA, go with the yellow, you'll like it

Question

WHAT04 and DH, how have your 65071s stood up for you, now that you have had them for a while? Any chance to drive them in the rain yet? Are they an exact match for the existing lamps, or do I have to buy the pair to get them to match?

Fordsales,

I bought a pair of the $17 lenses, and they do go on no problems. They look identical with the exception of the hella logo.

The major difference is they're no where near as bright as the hella lenses, so don't mismatch them.

Also, Maybe I just got unlucky, but one lasted 3 weeks before taking a rock hit. The other has lasted 4 months and now has a crack from side to side.

But, for $17 a piece, I can't complain. They're so easy to replace, I have a set of new hellas set aside for shows and such.

Hey Alpha,

Mine are still new in the box, with the ground wire tab cut down to fit. Never got to try them before I swapped to an '01.

They were much clearer than the lenses on the truck, so I wouldn't mismatch them.

Anybody need some lenses?

Alittle though:

Stoneguard (http://www.stoneguard.com) makes a 100% clear 5mm thick stick on plastic cover. We have been useing these for a while now and have taken sever hits in the fogs and have not had to replace any lenses since. They make them for the upper and lower lights.

BTW, the for lenses are the same as on the 87-93 Mustangs
