LikeLinus - your dates are mostly wrong. In 1992 the fastest Intel processor was a 486/50. Early in 93 intel came out with the 75 and 100.

In '92 my roommate in college was using a 386/20. I was on Compuserve in 1987 on my C-64 - although I wouldn't in any way call that the "internet".

On the insurance question - I pay $140/month for the 01 L and a 01 Monte Carlo SS. I'm over 25 and never had a ticket (neither has my wife).. State Farm.. I probably should shop around, seems a bit high to me. Adding the Lightning (replacing a 99 Silverado 4x4) and moving to St Louis added $50 to my monthly insurance.

Complete and utter BS. No Insurance company paid you "$9000" over the price of ANY vehicle cause it was stolen. Do you really think we're stupid? Insurance companies are in the business to MAKE money, not just give away "$9000". Also you cannot afford a saleen or cobra working as a car salesman at the age of 18. Let alone ANOTHER 30k vehicle? NO bank or loan company is going to give you 30k to finance an Cobra, even with 5k down. THEN ontop of that a Lightning? You're stories are fabricated. You aren't even smart enough to make up a good lie.

At 19 i think most of us were in college doing the smart thing. Not wanting to sell cars for a job. Thats why most people here can afford a lightning.

So your parents paid 6k for a computer in the early 90's that was obsolete? 286's wouldnt even have enough computing power to run a modem, much less a browser! Or even Prodigy software!!! Prodigy's first software you had to have atleast a 486 computer. I can do some research and find the actual requirements if you like, shouldn't be that hard. You are a liar, kid. Talk about stupidity.

St Louis Lightning. Compuserve wasn't the "Internet" at the time. It was the first service to offer electronic mail capabilities and technical support to personal computer users. It was actually more like an "Intranet". It was their own sort of minature network to interact with other Compuserve users.

I'm not sure how my dates were off? I never gave a release date for the Pentium class, just said it came out in the early 90's, which it did. I also stated that no home users were using the "internet" until the early 90's, which is also true.

My general dates might be a bit off, but my point was his story is bogus at best.

Like it or not using all CAPS is rude on all parts of the Internet, and has been since the days of the 286. If you have been using the Internet that long this is certainly not the first time you have been informed of this. Childish off topic attacks like these get closed.

PS I am old enough to have used a 286 back then with a 2400 baud modem to dial in to BBS's which were the precursors to ISP's. Even back then, in the days of monochrome monitors orange or green type ALL CAPS was frowned on as lazy and rude.
