Well I'm on the plan as the secondary driver and my father is the primary driver. My insurance is only $1000 a year, but I have nothing on my record either. lawyers are great, "sometimes".

I just turned 20 also, but it was that much when I got the truck when I was 18 too.

Florida has high insurance. You've got a bad record. You're getting a fast car. Sounds like you're pretty much SOL...

State Farm is very bad for people with bad records. I'd switch over to of of the cheapo brands, but make sure you understand what you're getting. SF has great service and pretty loose reimbursment, but the cheap insurance comapnies will weasel out of paying for anything they can.

If you have to ask about insurance cost ...you can't afford a Lightning, Wait till you get the gas/tire/ticket bills. HEHE

These things are just like boats, If you are tring to justify it you can't. If you can afford it and you just want it, you will love it.

Cool

Perfect record and 2001L used as secondary or 'weekend' vehicle:
$780 per year (State Farm) in Houston, TX.
Insurance for my F150 XLT was $690...
My policy only went up $8/month from old 2000 truck to the 2001L
Good luck

$672 / year (works out to $56/month). The mod cost/month costs more than the insurance!

BTW, if I had 7 points on against my DL, I wouldn't tell people about it. You might as well stick a "stupid" sticker on your forehead. On the other hand, at least you're honest about the mistakes you've made.

One vehicle (2001 Lightning) and insurance is $650.50 through Geico every 6 months. It would be cheaper but I only have 1 vehicle insured now so hence no multi-car discount. Some of these rates they are quoting above are for having the discount because of multiple cars.

I'm eligible for a perfect driving discount in Feb. of '02 which will get me another 8% or more off of that premium.

You have SEVEN points 'eh??? My Lord, you can forget it. Slow down and obey the laws. Have the insurance put in your parents name if they will allow it.

I'm telling you, put it in your parents name.

You know, Illinois doesn't have this point stuff. how does that work?

I am currently paying about 415 for full coverage 6 month policy.

However I was talking to an insurance agent for allstate who rents office space from me and she was curious about the insurance on these and pulled it up and it was like 317 for six month policy. Of course I told her I would bring in my current policy with all my vehicles on it and have her quote all my vehicles.

The moral of this story is to shop around and you can get a better deal.

Paul

P.S. I know how it feels to have all those points. When I lived in arizona I got 8 points and they pulled my license then I got dropped by my insurance and it sucked.

However now I am clean (ticket free) for the past 8 years and it feels good.
Now if I don't get into trouble with my L.

I'll try this again. Turn off the CAPS. Does it sound like I'm yelling? That's the point of using caps - it sounds like one is yelling and it's rude.

Now as far as insurance goes - you write
I WOULD RATHER USE MY $$$$ TO MOD INSTEAD OF LINE FAT INSURANCE GUYS POCKETS THOUGH!!!
Here's how it works. You are a big risk. You have demonstrated little respect for the speed laws. An insurance company is in business to make money after covering their losses. Florida has high insurance rates partially because of all the seniors – another high risk group – and people like you. You’ve made a mistake. Now you have to pay the consequences. Stay clean for several years and it will be much lower. My insurance is only $65 per month and I live in the same state as you. Maybe I’ve demonstrated the insurance company can trust me.
