Post Will these mods get me 12's ???

1. JDM warm weather street program
2. JDM 90 mm mass air
3. 3.73 gears

I ran a 13.54 with JDM's old program only. Testing it next week with the reburn and mass air. I should be LOW 13's??? Will the 3.73 gears get me 12's? How much are gears?

It depends on how hot it is and if you are running slicks or not. Try a pulley and JL PowerCooler from http://www.johnnylightningperf.com and I know you'll be there. It made a big difference on my ET's.

Cool

Jim,
You will see no gain from the 3.73 gears,if you are still on your f1's with those recent mods i see you running 13.30's pretty easily in good air.It will take a lower pulley and sticky tires to get you in the 12's club especially around here in warm weather and 800 feet above sea level!

The only things you need to get into the 12s is a GOOD chip/filter and pully and slicks.

I have so much $$ invested in my truck and alot of it was a waste concidering any gain I got. If you want to run fast and still be daily drivable,You should be able to run 12.9s with just these mods even up to 80 degree weather. It does however take alot more money to go much faster than high 12s and you need to juice which I do not belive in personally.
chip/filter $550
pully.......$250
Slicks......$400

The slicks are optinal but do work if you want consistant low ETs and 60 fts.

Put it this way.I know my truck has around 400 hp at the wheels.Give or take 5 hp tops. The reason I know is 12.8s with serious tranny issues My truck can be squashed or power braked at the line with NO NO NO wheel spin. This gives me 1.83 60 fts .I have run pretty close in ET with the street tires but when I pull up to the line with slicks,I know my time will depend on my trucks power and I dont have to try and compensate for traction problems!!If you truly want to test your trucks mods,You need to compare them with slicks.

By the way. About a month after I bought my truck with just a JL Ram Air, JL Diablo Chip, and MT Street ET's with full weight and everything else stock I ran a 12.7@105.5. It was like 60 degrees that day.

Red2K,

I agree that you are on the way. I would definitely get the pulley and slicks. Then work on the 60's....You better be around 1.85 or so to edge into the 12's......

Also, good weather doesn't hurt either...LOL..

I'd argue that all you need to get into the 12's is a good chipnfilter, practice, and good air. It worked for me.

Well I was swaying away from the pulley for the mear fact that I'd like to keep my warranty intact. That's why I was thinking of 3.73 gears whisch are warrantied. I have run a 13.54 with just my old JDM program. I am running next week for the first time with my airkit so we'll see. I thought I had seen some 12's posted with just chip/filter.

Wink

Jim,
I can assure you that anybody that ran 12's with just a chip and filter had extreme good air conditions and traction, those same trucks will be running 13.40's during the summer time in the heat. There is no better mod than cold air to run in!!
