Thumbs up The spanking of a ZO6!!!

Today on the way home from work I was sitting at a light all by myself when all of a sudden this guy I work with pulls up next to me in his 2001 ZO6. He told me that he could whip my butt, but I new the dude couldn't drive very well because I seen him spin it a few times off the line racing other people. Well, back to the story at hand!!! He starts reving his engine in competition and I accept. I spun the wheels to get the crap off of them and staged up. I put it at about 1200 RPM and the light went green!!! At the launch he spun for about 50 feet and I was already 1/8 mile down the road. I was a head of him for two consecutive lights and then I slowed slightly to let him by and then he turned off and I gave him a 2nd gear blowby. I can't wait to hear what he has to say at work today about his disappointing loss. I know that if there was a good driver behind that wheel, the car would of had me for about 2 car lenghts. Just thought I share my exciting morning with ya'll.

Wow, I must of ran across a slow Z06. I raced one from 20 to 100, but only won by a foot. Not too bad for a 99 L with only a first generation chip, but then again he still had the paper plates on. Maybe they (Z06) launch much better from 0 then we think?

You just gota love it when a 32K pickup out runs a 50K+ car!

I bet though if you run across a Z06 on the street with a driver who can drive, it would have been a lot closer but it wasn't your fault he can't drive his car!

You guys gotta be kidding me. i know that if someone spins off the line pretty bad, they pretty much lost the race already, but a bone stock L can beat a z06? i admit, i never saw a z06 at the track, but from what i have read in magazines, the z06 can go 12.6-12.9. my friend has a 2000 L and he ran 13.9 bone stock which is really good, but it in no way is gonna touch a z06. I LOVE LIGHTNINGS, TRUST ME, THIS IS NOT A WAY TO START TROUBLE HERE, i just had to stand up for the z06 driver since he isnt here to do so himself.

That 1 second of difference can easily be made up for by an auto lightning put to the floor. ZO6's are faster, but the driver is everything. Guy might have been afraid to drive it hard also. Who knows.

I don't know what to say, read above I beat one from 20mph to 100mph. Don't you think that the traction problem from a stand still was solved in that statement?

I also know that I've raced Trans-ams, Z28's, Z06's, and 2 vipers. Only the newer viper kicked ***, the 94 was basically just as fast as I was from 45-80. The newer viper was totally in a different world.

Please remember that no one is lighting um up at the stop light, laying down VTR, getting the perfect launch, or laying down a 12.9 - 12.6 1/4 time in the winter for the mags.

All I can say for fact is I've never lost to a GM the way I lost to that viper, if you beat me by 1/4 car/trucks lenghts is that really a KILL? That's BS, just last Friday I raced a Z28(at least a mean exhaust) up a 80 foot high over pass, probably at least a 1000 foot race and I pulled him everytime he manually shifted. Reread my post I only have a 99 with a 1st generation chip! Don't beleave me look for this guy on this board called Tundra, he has a ton of MPG's/MOV's of GM kills.

I think that you think your car is fast only because it sits so close to the ground. Even I think my truck is really slow, I just think GM's only slower.
