Question What's the going rate for new '01s?

For those of us who don't work for Ford, and don't have any connections, what's the going rate? Can you do better than MSRP?

Thanks

Topsy -
Although everyone starts asking $2K-$3K over MSRP, you can always end-up at $32,460 MSRP.
Everyone I talked to in Houston... Dallas... San Antonio... Austin... New Orleans... Mobile... Pensacola... Virginia Beach... was giving me MSRP after talking to them for a while.
If you try hard, and you have time and patience in your hands, you may even find one that will do X-Plan or approximately $28,790!
I did that, after 6 weeks of emails and long distance calls to 37 dealers in 5 States
Good luck,

I was under the impression (from a different message board) that you could get them for under MSRP, without too much work. Kinda sounds like that isn't really the situation.

Jeeeez-

Try getting one for under MSRP in CA. Several of the dealers around here are asking $10k OVER MSRP - @ $43k.

What a joke!!!

I bought mine at Gene Evans at X plan pricing. $28790. Chris Payne was my salesman. Very nice guy and zero hassle.

Yeah, that is crazy (msrp +10k). I'm considering a Gen 1 lightning, too.

I'm really concerned about the auto trannies. With the problems I'm reading on this board, it futhers my belief that Ford can't build an automatic.

In the Seattle/Tacoma area:

MSRP on any new '01 Lightning at our dealership - no games, no hassles, no negotiating (oh yeah, no A/X/Z plans either - sorry).

We are getting three more black L's for sure, and should also get 2 more red L's and 2 more silver L's.

Please ask for me (Brian)

Too bad you paid too much. They are jerk offs there. Told me NO on an X-plan and then offered it to someone else. I called back and they gave me all kinds of excuses.

I got mine no "?'s" asked for 28,900 OTD no doc fee either from Treadwell Ford in Mobile.
