20" Rim Specs/offset question

Ok I have been thinking of getting 20" rims for my L for a while now. I would love to get a good set of used replica 20" chromes but seems to be that they are few and far between and the new ones are about $1500 a set from what I can find. With that being said I was looking at some different brands and didn't know what offset I needed. Does anyone have the specs on their 20's they want to share. I am looking at a 9.5 wide so if you have the info please let me know. Thanks.

I have 20x9 with 275-40-20. I believe they are +12mm offset but dont remember 100%

oh and i picked them up brand new with lug nuts for under 1100

They stick out a little further then i'd like in the front, so i can't go any lower. I will start looking at getting some of the hub on the wheel milled off so it will tuck in a little more.

Isn't that a little dangerous... cutting into the wheel itself? How much extra can you go?

You really can't get one wheel that fits both the front and the rear well if you want wider tires. I've been looking at lots of wheels and have kind of settled on redrilling the hubs/rotors/axles so I can run Mustang wheels. 20x8.5 front and 20x10 in the back should fit about perfect with the '99-04 Mustang offsets.

Look at how deep the lugnuts are recessed and you'll see there won't be enough meat to mill anything significant off. I had the same thought on my Roush rims as they stick out in the front, but what you really need are two different wheels offsets.

So going with a staggerd set to make the back tires a little larger anyone know what sizes to get for front and back or have this set up? If not I am going to make myself an offset tool again but it would be easier if someone else already had the numbers.

This auction has ended, but scroll down just a bit and you can see the tires I've had bookmarked....

Those sizes should work about perfect with 8.5/10 staggered rims. I don't have good offset numbers yet, I'm planning to take measurements sometime this week when I swap my winter rims on. I took some quick measurements with the wheel on and it looks like my 9.5" Roush rim has a slight amount of negative offset, which would be why the fronts stick out ~1". I measured -1/16" or -1.6mm. If I plug that into this calculator...

http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp

....an 8.5" rim with 12mm offset would keep the inside the same and pull the outside in just a bit over an inch. I'm going to verify measurements when I get the wheels off, then I'm going to try and find a vendor who will make a Bullitt wheels for F150s in 20x8.5 and 20x10. Both will be around ~12mm offset. May need to put some posts on boards to guage interest, but I bet it would be a popular choice.

A little more info... The OP said he thought his rims were 12mm but wasn't sure, I believe they are the same as these...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-Fo...item518d1e9d3d

....which say 8mm. Thats a 9" rim, an 8.5" at 12mm would tuck in close to 1/2" further, so a bit more offset may be desired depending on clearance inside of course. I'll turn the wheel lock to lock when I get mine up in the air and look at how much clearance there seems to be....

I have 20's on mine that the first owner installed. (I'm the 3rd owner and i bought it from a buddy.) Don't see hardly any L's with 20's. Looks good!
