Need some cam/timing chain help please
My buddy just installed his new engine (fully built with navi heads and stage 3cams. upon the first start up, it ran and idled fine but heard a noise behind the balancer. found out that the drivers side chain had a lot of slack in it. replaced the chains and tensioners (the other was a factory defect) and got it all buttoned up. now when it is started it idles at 3000 rpm then studderes and dies. when the throttle is touched, it backfires and dies. There is no vaccum leak and everything is connected. Could the cams be timed wrong? we had a buddy help who is familar with these setups and everything seemed to be put on correctly. we are racking our brains tring to figure out whats wrong.
if it apprears to be a problem with the timing setup, does anyone have a diagram or anything to show how to set the chains up correctly.
I appreciate and and all help!

The link below is for a 4.6 complete with pictures, but from what I read the procedure is the same as the 5.4.
