This proves Red is fastest.
Hell Yeah!!!! The Glen pace truck. A red Lightning, just like mine. Well, almost. Looks like they got a new one this year. I'm pretty sure that is a 2001 L. Anyways, ya know NASCAR and Ford would only want the fastest color to represent. Kinda makes me wonder why they even bother with the others.... Just kidding, guys with white, black, and silver.
Ssssssswwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't blink, you've just been smoked by 4800 lb. truck, hehe

I would have to say that the reason they seem to always use Red Lightnings is because it is the easiest color to find. I meen come on, they have a lot more red ones out there than the rarest color White. White Lightnings are no slouches by any means and I am working on getting it to be among the fastest gen 2's. I will be adding NOS real soon and I hope it should put me in the 11's. We will see

We are talking gen 2's here, and yes they didn't make any silver in '99 but units per year that any color was produced (White) has the least amount of units every year hands down. So you do the math. It was the rarest color that was made in '99, the rarest color that was made in '00 and the rarest color that was made in '01.
And if you want to get real picky then Yellow would be the rarest color since I beleive they made at least one when the were trying to deside about adding Silver or Yellow to the 2000 model year.
There was no reason to flame, I can't help it if your silver truck is slow.

Huh?
Chief:
You call THAT a flame? You under-sell my incendiary abilities to the point of insult. If you want a flame...
Your "models-per-year-only-when-issued" criterion doesn't fly for me. Silver is the rarest Gen2. There are fewer of them on the road than any of the other three colors. Within the set "Gen2 Lightnings", "silver" is the smallest subset of standard production colors. There are more white (or red or black) Gen2's on the road than silver ones. Silver is rarest.
...At least until the rumored blue ones come out.
Your argument is kind of like saying that a 1973 Chevrolet Caprice Classic is rarer than the Mona Lisa, because in 1503 one Mona Lisa was produced, yet NO CAPRICES! Fact is, taken in proper perspective (not artificailly compartmentalized in an efffort to make a ludicrous point), the Mona Lisa is indeed rarer than the 1973 Caprice (a rusty example of which I once owned). There is one such original painting in existence, compared to several thousand examples of the aforementioned automobile.

Guys, guys, please! Can't we all be friends?
I did not meant to get a bad thing started here. I am fanatic about all Lightnings and I don't think any of the colors are undesireable.
When all is said and done, if they really do stop making white L's next year, the white Gen 2's will end up being the rarest. But that's alot of if's about things we do no know at this point.
I happen to like red the best, which is why I own one, but I also like the white, silver, and black trucks.
hdmlnium, you have a sweet ride my friend, you too Silver-Y2K-SVT.

Here's my earlier post on why they used a red L...
They have a red Lightning pacing the race today. They also had a quote from Mike Helton (Pres. of NASCAR) about it... It went: "We had to use a red Lightning today, because if we would have used a black one the Winston Cup cars wouldn't be able to keep up with it." Nothing that we didn't already know though...
