Napa cam bolt kit question

I picked up two set yesterday. The parts guy said the part number I gave him was for a 1998. His book didn't list a 2001.
I got the part number here.
Can someone confirm this for me?
The number on the package is 264-2953.

Also, I do need 1 kit for each side. Right?

Lastly, I have not heard any front end clunk. Am I wasting an effort doing this cam bolt/front end align w/o doing the Herb washer thing too?

I'm taking the L in tomorrow for an unrelated problem so I thought I'd get the frontend aligned while they have it.

BTW, salesman confirmed I get a loaner cause I'm an SVT owner.

Now, if they would just do a good job.

That is the correct part# and you do need 2 kits. I assume your L is lowered or you are lowering it; that is the only reason you would need the cam bolts.

You wouldn't be wasting your time but it makes sense to do both at the same time.

Correction--- I'm not lowering it and don't plan to.

I thought the kits were needed for proper alignment. Something for the L in general.

The Napa guy said I could return if necessary.

Ah.. I had a long conversation with my service writer and the Mechanic about the need for Cam-Bolts. I had them fix the Clunk and wanted the Cam-bolts installed when they aligned it. I was there over 3 hours with them during the work. They said I get one free alignment in the first 12,000 mile on Ford.
They would only install cam-bolts IF it would not aligned within specs. They said MOST would make the spec unless it has been lowered for example. And if it is stock and IF it didn't meet spec they (Ford) will pay for the Cam-Bolts needed to make spec. It made the spec ok. I didn't need the Cam-bolts So I took mine back to NAPA.
It drives much different now. Much better….

I printed out a list of specs. Found them in a search. I hope they're right.

Caka -

Yes, one kit per side.

While it may align within specs now it may not 20,000 miles from now. Cam bolts are good future insurance. I have heard that they can cheat on the alignment by adusting the wheel by using the slop that causes the clunk.

Cam Bolts and Herbs washers are the only way to go.

I just got Herbs washers and wanted to know what the cam bolt kit part # is for a 99 Lightning. Also will they (being the installer) know where the washers go (cause I am not sure)? Thanks for any help.

Cam Bolts and Herbs washers are the only way to go.
This is THE answer, lowered or not unless you opt to weld the existing washers to the control arm. Good luck convincing your dealer to do that.

Speedin Bob - sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands .

99 - Same part # for all years. The washers go on the drivers side lower control arm. If you search around there are some threads that have pretty good pictures. I printed it off and am taking to the mechanic on Thursday when he puts on my springs and cam bolts.
