You need to update yourself on plugs. Platium plugs are advertised good for 100,000 miles. They will last least last 60-70000. Believe me you don't want to change these plugs unless you have to and read all the howto post before you do and have all the correct tools especially the 7mm socket with builtin swivel.

I put TR 6s in when we did the last intercooler. I gapped them at .44. It runs great.

LEENSVT ,THE NGK V-POWER PLUGS ARE STOCK#4177 TR6. IF YUO ARE RUNNING A PULLY,FILTER,RAM AIR, AND OR A CHIP YOU MAY CONSIDER TR7'S ITS A COOLER PLUG. I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE PLUGS FOR $2.00 EACH. ONE OF THE TOP TUNERS RECOMMENDS A .038 GAP .GOOD LUCK!

.38 gap is way too close. Gapping that close will decrease mileage. I have a maf, filter, and pulley and they run great gapped at .44 and not loss of power or mileage. Several who gapped at .40 reported lower mileage. This coil on plug system will fire these plugs fine at all rpm. I was at the track last Firday the truck ran great. I talked to a "top tuner" and he didn't recommend 38. Now I guess we need a tuner war on spark plug gap.

I didn't say they'd last 100k I sald the were advertised for 100K but they will easy go 50-60K,

I just installed a set of those last week. Besure you have all the nec. tools!!!! It makes it lots easier. The NKG part # is 4177. Jim @ JDM recommended a 0.42 gap so thats what I gapped them and it runs good. Cant really tell alot of difference though. I did notice when I nail it at 20 mph, it spins the rear tires where use to it would chirp them 5-6 times with the stock platinums. The gaps on the stock plugs where all over the place from .40-.45!!. The last two plugs on the drivers rear are a pain in the a$$! This is where the 7mm swivel socket is a time saver on the 3rd one back!

Cool

Blownlightning,

I agree with you on the heat range.

Noel,

I agree with you on the gap.

I think the TR6's burn too lean in the cruising range and when I have gapped my plugs down in the past my gas mileage fell off about a 1/2 mile per gallon. I have had absolutely no problem running Stock, NGK, Splitfires or Autolite 103's at factory spec. gap which is .042 - .046

AS FAR AS GAP GOES WE ALL WANT TO GO FAST SO WE NEED TO DO A LOT OF TESTING AND TUNING .038 WAS JUST A START!IF THEY WERN'T SUCH A PAIN WE COULD TRY A LOT MORE SETTINGS BUT,FOR NOW HAVE FUN AND KEEP IT SAFE.

Chuck-Forgot to give you credit!! I printed the tool list off your site and it made the spark plug install a piece of cake!!
Thank you very much for such a great site and all the help you lend us here at F150online!

Appoligie to the ELEPHANT MAN......so i'm assuming you ran your factory plugs for 60,000 to 70,000 miles....doubt it.Don't talk out of both sides of your mouth at the same time.
