I have noticed that some sellers say that their '99-'00 Lightning Wheels (Part No. M-1007- L189) are right from the Ford Factory at 18X9 inches.

Others quote their factory wheels, with the same part number, at 18X9.5 inches. WTF? They look identical but some have the SVT logo and others have a lightning bolt on the cap.

Were the original '99 factory Lightning Wheels 18X9 wide?

Or 18X9.5 wide?

Does anyone know the real scooooop??!!!

Well ill tell you what i know. My stock rims that came with the truck had the SVT logo on the center caps of the rims. I traded in my stock rims on a set of chrome stock rims and they have a lightning bolt on the center cap. Basically the only ones that i have seen with the lightning bolt in the center are the chrome rims. My chrome rims are factory ford rims thats why you trade them in because they chrome yours and give you a set that are already chromed then the next guy in line gets your stock ones that get chromed next. Also this way i saved lots of money i paid 900 plus my stock rims when ive seen the chrome rims go for as much as 350 a rim on this site.

I am looking for the best possible deal on a set of four "L" wheels. What is the name of this wheel chroming outfit? Maybe they would sell me a set of wheels cheaper than I can buy them somewhere else.

My question was what is the rim width of the original wheel. Is it 9-inchs wide or 9-1/2 inches wide? You see both sizes in the after market. They all use the same part number but they quote different sizes. In fact, the F150 Store quotes two sizes right in the ad. First they say it's a 18 X 9. And then, right underneath,
they say it comes direct from Ford in 18 X 9.5 . What's the deal with that? Is the original 9-inches wide or 9-1/2 inches wide?

 

FOR THE PERSON THAT TRADED HIS STOCK RIMS IN FOR CHROME AND 900 BUCKS YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF SELLING THEM AND USING THE MONEY TO BUT THEM OUT RIGHT.TRUE LIGHTNING WHEELS ARE 18BY 9.5 INCHES WIDE.AFTER MARKET WHEELS CHROME COME WITH THE LIGHTNING BOLT.BY THE WAY A LIGHTNING RIM RETAILS FOR 471.00 FROM FORD I KNOW MINE WERE JUST STOLIN I GOT AFTER MARKET CHROME FOR 300.00 A WHEEL.

 

They don't make "factory" chrome caps.I got my '01's chromed.Had to wait 3 weeks beause noone had a core set to exchange.The wheels are "factory"the caps are after market.

 

99 / 00 / 01 are all 18 x 9.5.
Per Jason at SVT, the 01 wheel is 5 lbs heavier.

 

Ford Does sell Chrome rims for 00 and 99. I have them on my truck. THe back of the rim clearly lists 2 part numbers both chrome and painted. They come with chrome SVT caps. I bought them from Tirerack.com

TireRack.com has a lot of SVT wheels for sale 99-00' painted and chrome and 01' painted. The 01's are 229 a piece. 99-00' painted are 219 a piece. Don't get stuck by the dealer...

The ford wheels are 9.5".
10" outer-lip to lip... 9.5" inner-bead to bead.
The 9" is a mistake. Maybe a cut-and-paste mistake from the Mustang rims?
