New Dyno #'s (JL Parts) Today!
I had 3 runs today at Atlantic Performance, here in J-ville. My mods are:
JL 3# pulley
JL Diablo Chip
90mm MAF
JL Air kit (not ram air)
Flowmasters
Mobile 1 synth (I forgot the weight)
The truck was cool, and the intake was iced for the first run. Air temp. was 84.9*.
Peak RWHP was 354.2 Peak RWTQ was 435.9
These #'s seem a little low compared to what others have posted. Is my truck a wuss?

Yes Indeed...
RS':
Indeed your numbers sound quite weak. How reputable and technically astute is your dyno guy? Are these properly corrected numbers? Also, do you have any quarter-mile times to back this up?
Hopefully we will dig out some sort of confounding variable. Otherwise, you have a terminally ill Lightning that is down 30 or more horsepower, I think.

No times yet...hopefully wednesday night. The intercooler hasn't lost a drop of fluid since I bought it.
Could there be a problem with the chip? It still shifts at the stock RPM, with the same firmness (it still does that 4 cylinder shut off thing), and the exhaust smells kinda rich. I've got an autometer air/fuel gauge that shows the engine still runs rich, but I've heard those aren't very acurate. I've never heard piston slap from the truck, either.
I lost to my friends LT1 Z28 that's run a best of 13.3xx, and I had a perfect launch.
My stock dyno was 309 rwhp, but that was in 2nd gear in 98* heat w/ a warm motor. Any ideas...this truck is starting to pi$$ me off

rs,
They seem a tad shy. Here are my Dyno #'s (99L) with basically same mods (Replace Flowmaster with Magnaflow and add JL's scoop)
Additionally, my truck was hot on all pulls (Mobile Dyno).
Did you have a custom program burned? (ie: keep stock line pressures, fart shift, etc)
Give JL a call. He'll hook you up.

Your numbers aren't far off, for the mods you have done. I dyno'd at 384hp and 507lbs. of torque and I run a 12.25@110 with room for improvement. I dyno'd with slicks, convertor, and it was hot. All of these factors take away from the numbers.
The torque is the what makes Lightning's so fast. HP is a measurement of the torque. We need the torque to get these walls moving down the track.

RS, your numbers do seem low, I'd almost expect those numbers from a non-chipped truck with your mods. It's possible that the chip is not communicating with the PCM. Try recleaning your contacts, and if possbile, redo the testing with the chip in and out just to verify if it has any effect. If you have a problem with the chip, contact JL and I'm sure he'll take care of you.

chip
No you leave the holder off. I don't think you could even snap it in with the chip in place. I agree check and double check your contacts on the chip there is a fine clear like coating also that is a pain to get off of the terminals. I actually used a feeler gauge to scrap off this coating and then cleaned the terminals. There is a night and day difference with shifts/power with the chip.

Coleman, I'm w/ Sal, JL, and the many others on this. Your chip isn't work properly I don't think buddy. It's apparent JL programmed it to take out the 4-cylinder drop and also to increase the rev limiters.
Just so you'll feel better about your 2nd gear run my max hp # in 2nd gear was:
326 hp
Considering I made 342 hp in direct drive that's a 16 hp difference. I have an '01 remember. This isn't totally accurate but it will be close so factor in that difference to your 2nd gear #'s and you'll have about 325, which is right where a '99 or '00 should be.
Your truck is NOT a dud by anymeans. It's right where it should be Exactly where it should be. I look for #'s in the 380 to 385 when you get that chip working properly.
