Used lighting 4 32,500????

I have been looking at getting a lighting the local Ford dealer does not have any 01 lightings but he has a 00 with 15,700 miles on it. He says he will sell it to me for 32,500. I offered 25,000 and he wouldnt budge and told me that 01 have a $10,000 mark up over the MSRP. That doesnt sound right I mean these trucks are damn nice but did anyone here really pay 42,000 plus for their lighting? I think this dealer is just trying to pull a fast on on somebody. I'm in So-Cal so maybe if there is any So-Cal lighting owners here you can shed some light on what would be a good price to pay for a lighting. I have bought a number of cars and have always been able to buy at below invoice price. I just cant see how this dealer can justify asking the same price for a used 00 when the MSRP for a 01 is at this same price. Anyways any imput from you guys would be helpful thanks in advance.

Tell that dealer to pound sand. Check the classifieds on this site for deals on lightnings. You will be surprised.

Thumbs up F150 Classifieds

There were a few '01 in the claasifieds for pretty cheap. Look around and I'll bet you can find an '01 for less than MSRP.

Check ebay... They have a '01 for well under $30K right now... Don't listen to any dealership sh*t about $10K over MSRP... Most dealers are trying to get rid of them for below MSRP because they have too many in stock... Anyways, Good Luck finding one...

Later, Justin

What a RIP!

IamSPDRCR, go to www.carbuyingtips.com and make that page your bible, I did before I bought my L. Like Shorty said, tell that dealer to go shove it!! I just bought my BRAND NEW lightning for $29k, and he wants to sell you a USED 2000 for $3k more?! WHAT A JOKE!! That truck better be hitting high 11's for that price. Don't let those guys push you around. If they say no, just walk away. Like these other guys said though, your BEST bet is to look in the classifieds (ebay, local newspaper, autotrader.) I highly recommend that car buying tips website! Hope this helps a little!!

Strikes Twice, Don't know if you're up for a jet ride but here in Gaithersburg Maryland, our local Ford dealer has at least 7 on the lot. Been there for some time too. I'm sure you can get them for less than MSRP.

LOL Speedin'

Seriously though, I bought my '00 with about 8 miles on it in SoCal for $31k 17 months ago. This dealer is yanking you hard. You should be able to find an '00 for mid-high 20's and there has to be some '01's left that you shouldn't pay more than sticker for.

I don't know if any of you guys went to the website I posted, but you should NEVER even deal with MSRP prices. You should only say invoice *this is what the dealer says they pay for it (BS)* Go into the dealer and say you will only pay invoice (aprox. $29.5k for the L, and will give them a perfect survey) If you are serious about buying a brand new car, I'm telling you, that website will save anywhere from $2-10k. It saved me 8 grand. The dealership wanted $37,000 beacuse they have a "$4k markup since it is such a HOT truck," so I said, look, they obviously aren't THAT hot in this neck of the woods, you guys still have 4 brand new 2001's on your lot, so I'm sure you want to get rid of them oretty soon since the 2002's will be here. I'll give you invoice or nothing. And needless to say, after a little arguing and haggling, I saved my wallet a hefty $7k!!!

That dealer is a @$$ dont listen to him. When i went to go get my lightning they had a 99 red sitting there with 19,000 miles on it and they wanted like 28,000 for it. They had a black 00 sitting in the showroom with like 10 miles on it for only 31,000 and change some i was like for the few extra grand it was worth getting the new one. So i dont know how that dealer can be asking for more then or equal to sticker price on a used with 15,000 miles or him telling you they are marking them up 10,000. Theres a dealer i drive by everyday on my way to work and he has had 2 01 silvers sitting there for months im sure someone could get them for a steal. Also my friend told of another dealer that has a red and black 01 sitting there so they around just look you can find them.

way off!!

I just picked up my 2000 with 2,500 miles on it with the tonneau cover and bedrug lined bed for......$26,900. Mint, belonged to an older gentleman who collects cars....just bought it waiting for the new tbirds. There isn't even a trace of tire rubber under the wheel wells. There was a 99 a few miles from the dealer i bought mine from selling a 99 with 7,500 miles for 24k. I had no idea the number of used L's out there. At this point with the 2002's approaching, you can probably pick up a 2001 brand new for invoice. Work hard.
