Question What do you usually spend to get in the 12's?

I have to tell you, I had no idea these trucks could get into 12's so easy! I must say that I am totally hooked now, but now have to wait in agony until spring before I can get one.
For those of you who have run in the 12's, what does one typically spend to get there? I have seen many replies to my previous posts, and many of you only have some sort of chip and maybe a different air filter???
Is that all it takes? I am not interested in NOS.
I have seen different posts concerning JL and PSP??
I would think a chip would cost no more than 300 bucks or so. So are you guys getting into the 12's for less than $1000?
If so, I am EXTREEMELY inpressed. Heck, I was planning on shelling out about 3k on my T/A to get into the 12's.
So then, what is the quickest, most reliable way to get into the 12's. I definately want reliability.
I look forward to your replies.

I would definitely spend some time digging around on this site for the mods and what they can do for your truck. There is enough research and observations to keep you reading for a month

I would say you could get into the 12's with a chip/filter/pulley combo for around $1000. The truck should still be reliable and streetable with these mods if they are of good quality.

You could spend another $1000 and get a shift kit/line mod valve, slicks, and traction bars and go well into the 12's.

As far as who to buy from, that's where the research comes in. I have bought from several different vendors and have been pleased overall with the level of service and quality of parts. It's really a matter of opinion as far as who makes the best parts, who has the best service, etc.

I think it depends on what type of tire you plan to use. If you want to go 12's on the stock F1's then you might plan on some extra mods to offset the lack of traction.

If you put ET streets on it, then a chip and filter will get it done.

Nice Sal!

Also, you know what women say about guys with vettes. Makes them want to reach for a sock.

I had an 02 Z06 on order and bought the L thinking it would tide me over. I cancelled the Z06 a month after I had the L. This is no small deal since I had never owned a Ford and never thought I would.

Need: don't know about the'sock' joke but have heard about the "sorry about your d*&%" comment and also, 'if you had a big d#$%, you wouldn't need a corvette!" joke(involved a mouse, a deep hole, and an elephant I think)

Sal: you're doing adds for feminine products now? LOL

Congrats on "blowing the jerkoff in the Z06"....

I'll tell you this much. If you switch over to a JDM chip, you'll be even faster. I know for a fact a certain member of this board has repeatedly smoked other Ls/F-bodies/Y-bodies/etc. The Ls he has smoked has had different chips and some even had a pulley to go along with the chip!
Of course it could just be the Nashville air, right?
