Chip recommendation

I see there are chips, but can't find information on what each one does differently than another. I see many people using the JDM flip chip, which I see is customized to your mods. Would you wait to get chip until completely modded? I'd like to chip first, and rest of them later.

Hi Crued,

Welcome to F-150 Online!

Plenty of Lighting owners start off with the performance chip first, and you can do that as well. The chip can always be updated for other modifications later on. We are an authorized distributor for JDM Engineering products, and can provide you with the JDM parts & matching programs you need or want.

If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call, & best of luck wih your Lightning!

That would mean taking the chip out, and sending it it to have someone reburn the code correct? What kind of fees are involved to reprogram?

Is there some reference as to what the difference in chips is?

What is a JL chip.

I'm getting out of my GTP, going back to ford products thankfully. For GTP's we only had one option, and that was to replace the PCM for about 300 bux. No customization available. This chip situation for the L sounds expensive and confusing.

Try Powersurgeperformance.net
I've decided to go with PSP after many days of searching the Lightning boards. Hopefully, I'll have it in by this weekend...I'll let you know my opinions on it.

You would be happy with any of the Big 3 Chips, JDM, JL, PSP

I went with the JDM, who reburns the chips for free you just pay the shipping back and forth.

Many of the mods don't require a reburn, but a few do. Talk to the tuners and go with who you feel most comfortable with.

I can't believe this hasn't got out of hand and then locked, chips seem to be a bad topic here lately .I hope this stays civil this time.I would feel safe with any of the "big 3" I have dealt with JL and he is a greta guy, I bought my chip from JDM and its Great.I went the cheap route and got a single program chip since I will never see race fuel and its my daily commuter.I have heard and read lots of positive about PSP and Sal's post tend to show that he is also a good guy. Maybe only the good guys sell L parts???
