most common problems with 01 Lightning...
hey guys...
I am looking to get the 01 L around christmas time..
ive seen that a lot of people are having troubles with their truck..
intercooler leaks, pulley problems, 'marble in can - sounds', hesitating gear shifts...
is it safe to invest in this truck? i love the performance and kill stories around here.. i believe it would be worth it, but, would i be wrong to assume there are many faults in the new lightnings?
also, how is ford with replacing corrupt parts, ect?
on a slightly different note, there are TONS of performance mods out there...which is great, but how about handling modifications. with all the power running throught the Ls veins, can you take a corner at high speeds?
anyway, i am 100% sold on this beast, all i want to know is what the future holds (besides all the freshman girls at school wanting a "ride")
thanks guys

Malibu,
There are a lot of opinions on this board. We have our fair share of problems and warranty issues.
I have had two Intercoolers replaced this year alone. There is a clunk in the left front suspension that has returned again. I am going to repair it for good, by welding the washer to the control arm.
My only ongoing concerns are gas mileage (600-800 miles per week) and rear tire wear.
When I press on the accelerator pedal, all those concerns go up in smoke, along with some vaporized Goodyears.
THIS IS THE BEST VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED, IN TERMS OF SMILES PER MILE!!!!!

pulley problems, Only when using aftermarket perf mods
'marble in can - sounds', Only when using aftermarket perf mods
hesitating gear shifts... Normal... fixed by chip
Most of what you mentioned are only problems when you start modding. See BOLD above

passenger window wouldn't go down - Ford fixed it
muffler blew off down 1/4 mile pass - I fixed
alot of people hate the stock plugs, and in a recent thread floating around 2 01's have a plug or 2 that shot.
FORD -fix or repair daily, gives it personality, I love this truck
And the NUMBER 1 biggest problem, people are starting to learn how fast these trucks are and are to scarred to race.
