Raced a Z28 w/some kind of ram air hood and racing stripes..and a IROC and kicked both of their ***#s...damn too easy i must say for my first time...by the way my b-day is coming up on the 26 of November and already told the Girlfriend (which I adore to death) and sisters/parents to chip in and by me a "chippenfilter"....maybe get a pulley also???i wish (for the pulley) but the others seem feasible...anyway hope to have more kills .. gonna take it to the track pretty soon maybe w/in the next two weeks.. Struck:

There are some fast LS1s and Trans Ams down here. Some I beat and some hand me my ***. Abuddy drives a 2000 T/A with a turbo--runs 12.4s & .5s--best I can do is 12.873. Try your L out at a 1/4 mile track--mucho(little texmex lingo) fun!

Hey...take it easy on the F-bodies.

Yes, I own a 1997 F150 XLT 4x4 w/ORP and love Ford trucks. But, Chevy makes a better sports car than Ford, just compare any year camaro to a mustang. No, they may not be as fast as an L with 380HP, but you put a blower on a stock Z with 310HP and you would hit close to 450HP. Who would win then?? Sold my Camaro last month and next summer I hope to buy a 97 or newer Z. Maybe put a supercharger on it and then I post you guys some times!! Then again, after hearing all of the stories on here about the fun L's, I wouldn't mind having on of em! The only thing is I already have a truck...don't need two at twenty years old, cause the insurance is and will be even more outrageous!! Insuranc...a monoply?? A f**king JOKE if you ask me, paying more for insurance than I am for my truck , anyways I've rambled enough.

mhussey-If ya wanna compare apples to apples......put a blower on a camaro then add about 1500 lbs. (weight difference between the L and camaro) The L would still win! Just had to rag on ya a bit! LOL!

Is that true???

Is the weight difference really that much (1500lbs)?? So you do think that a 380HP Z28 would still loose to a 380 HP L?? Guys, I'm not talking s**t, just seeing what the L owners think. I have never ridden in either, I just know that they are both fast (watched them at the strip). About the truck vs. car wise crack, my Dad has a 2000 F150 7700 w/ 5.4 and it is quicker 0-60 than my Mom's 255HP 300M!

Nah, whatever happened with the F-150 and the 300M was wrong, the 300M runs high 7s 0-60, and the 2000 F-150 runs mid 8s 0-60, just thought I'd say somethin

You may be right...

You are probably right...I know the 300M seems faster and in Car and Driver the 0-60 was 7.7seconds. I thought that the 2001 F150 w/ 5.4 listed at 6. something seconds, but now that I think about it, that is way too fast for a 4x4!! Is it possible they (car and driver) were listing a lightening?? Anyways, thanks for the correction and keeping me on my toes!!

hmmm

my 2000 L I thought was listed as 0-60 at 6.2, 2001's running at 5.8, stock of course. If my memory serves correctly, the f150/expedition 4x4 class was in the mid to high 8's. Damn cause it was just on car and driver like a few weeks ago

Thanks guys...

Tallimeca, you seem to right on with the 0-60 times. I seem to remember now reading that the F-series with the 5.4 were in the high 8's. One question, how is a 2000 L quicker than a 2000 Camaro Z28 when the L runs 0-60 @ 6.2 and the Z can do it @ 4.9 ?? Just had to rattle you cage a little bit.

Talking

Ummmmmm..................The same way that Ford listed an '01 L running 13.9 ET's, and there are some running 13.3's stock in cool weather now ????

Magazine/Internet racing, obscures (makes fuzzy) the real world outcome. "Rick 10/2001"

I owned a 3rd gen TransAm ('82-'92) and got beat by same year Mustangs for four years!

Me too...

I too had a 3rd gen, 84 Berlinetta. I loved the car, but it was all for looks and handling. I would have got spanked all the time if I raced with it. What did you have for an F-body?? I was just commenting on the old rivalry. Compare apples to apples (Z-28 to GT or SS to Cobra) and almost always, the chevy product was faster with more horsepower.
