Question Has anyone tried a custom intercooler?

I was talking to a good friend of mine who is an ex porsche mechanic with racing experience and mentioned how many Lightnings have suffered from leaking intercoolers and Ford announcing the fix. He asked whether anybody had thought about trying a custom intercooler instead, as is done with many Porsches, etc.?

So now I pass on the question to the group, any comments?

The internal cooler would be very difficult since it sits under the blower. On the Porsches the cooler are external. No problem playing with those. You may be able to improve the external heat exchanger, but not sure if you would gain much.

I don't know if he still has any, But JDM had a few custom intercoolers for the 99-2000 L's

Does anybody know about, or used the N-tercooler, from NitrosXpress. It is an intercooler that uses CO2 to supercool the charge
