M Roadster and Coupe
The new motor in the M Coupe and Roadster has only 315hp, not the full 333hp of the M3. This is due to more restrictive intake and exhaust plumbing. Only comes with a 5 speed as well, not the 6 speed that the M3 has. Along with the modified 3 series rear suspension of 2 generations ago, I think I'd rather have the M3.

The 400 hp M5 motor in a 3-series (especially the M Coupe or Roadster) would probably over power the chassis, at least for street use, and dictate the use of all-wheel drive. Now, something like that would appeal to me, but I'm not so sure I would enjoy the $60K price that would accompany that combo. Maybe Isuzu will produce a WRX roadster with the full-bore rally motor for $30K. <grin>

Thanks, 01Bolt!
By the way, I just read a couple of interesting articles on the WRX and also on your PT. Below are the links to these articles.
