Thumbs up 3 L's & a GN in front of my house this morning

I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

I was on the computer and looked out the front window. I said "Hey Babe, there's another Red L out front". We have '94 & '01 Red L's parked there already.

We went out side and met "Flag Waver (Loren)", from Colorado. He just happened to be towing his Black (beechin) Buick GN, behind his Red '00 L. He had been to a Buick GN drag event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He had read our posts and figured if he was coming through our town, that he'd look us up. He stopped at the only restaurant in our town, where he saw one of our local sheriffs. Asked if he knew where we lived, and got directions.

Loren is a great guy and we both enjoyed meeting and talking with him. He told about all the different engines, transmissions and turbos he had been through with the Bad Buick. He said in the past it was running 800+hp. He went with a milder setup to be easier on parts. Now 500+hp.

He said he lost a headgasket on her at the drags. He also said, since he broke, he loaned some parts off her to another racer. Gotta love those kinda racers.

He unhooked the car trailer and raced the L after he broke the Buick. Said he ran a 13.61 ET at over 100 mph. This is at 2200' altitude. He had rubber chunks behind the rear tires on both the Buick and the L tow rig.

He was headed up to Reno, then back to Colorado. Said he will make a post about his trip when he gets home. (over 4200 miles towing)

Just thought I'd share one of those L owner experiences.

Hope to meet up with you again in the future Loren.

Thanks for the kind words. It was nice meeting you two. The trip was great and I even found a job in Reno. I will be back there Monday. Loren

how 'bout some pics of the GN? I have always been a fan of that car since high school (regal t-types included). I knew a guy from high school that had a regal. he could lay rubber for an entire block in front of the school.

KGM you should have come to the Strip Sat the 10th we had 50+ GNs there. one in the 8's one in the 9's & several in the 10's. Had an opel with twin turbos that went 7.96@177. I should have gone 10.75 but you have to keep them together. They go for about what ever you want to pay. Like anything else milage etc. My 56000 mile t-top car is $10,000 & the race car is $15,500.

My dad has an 87 GN, which only has about 3000 miles on it! He bought it to add to his collection of sports cars. It's never been driven in the rain, and still has original tires, factory stickers, and tags. This car was the motivation behind my purchase of the L. I wanted a unique, high=tech muscle car to collect and keep in pristine condition. The GN is a cool car, and if I had the money to buy one back then (I was a sophomore in high school, mowing lawns for cash), I definitely would've gotten one. I don't see too many of them around anymore. Has anyone ever raced a stock L with a stock GN? I'm thinking it would be a pretty close race.

Most stock GN,s ran 13.90 to 14.50 depending on the conditions and the driver, so it would be a good race. The thing thing is finding a stock one. I only put $500 into my t-top car and ran 12.67@108 at 4400 feet .
