Question Bolt Tranny TSB?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=598217925

I don't remember ever reading anything about an upgrade on the L tranny? Do any of you know about this?

Never heard of tranny issue... But the same guy thinks a Superchip will put him over 420 RWHP and 500 FTlbs of torque....

I think I have seen those pictures online before....

If anyone knows about the tranny TSB it would be Factory Tech or one of the other Ford experts here...

I think he's talking about the mechanical diode recall that was done to most 2001's before they even left the factory. Calling it an "upgrade" is kind of pushing it though.

He IS telling some truth

Anyone who tells you that they never raced their truck is lying. Drive one and you'll understand...its there, you can't avoid the power.
I've never had mine to the track (way too far), but I have driven it hard.

He never said RWHP just HP, still dreaming though. Price is good - $25,500.00. Alot of miles for a '01, I only have 16k on my '00 and I feel like that is too much.
I added a bedliner, a factory painted bugshield, K&N filter, and a Superchip. Should be running about 420hp, 500ftlbs of torque.
Not a bad deal, I wonder if he will give you 0%

I've never seen that one around town at the local shows, or at the track. I don't have 400 rwhp hp and I'm sure I would have handed him his ****.

There are thooretically 3 models of tranny for an '01 Lightning, the 5Q, 1J and the 5X. The 5Q would have had the fauly mechanical diode, but none were built with this transmission, the 1J has the "improved" mechanical diode and should be fine, but if it fails it will be replaced under warranty with a 5X, the 5X is the final '01 model (and the '02) and it's pretty much the same as the 1S in the '00 models, after the mechanical diode problems they rescinded the design change and went back to the sprag on the direct clutch. It's hardly an upgrade, just a model change.
