Is blower belt slippage a problem?

Do the L's have any problems with blower belt slippage, especially when you use an aftermarket pulley?

This is a common concern with blowers like Vortech.

I currently run a 3lb pulley--no slippage(that I know of) and the truck is quicker than when I ran a 2lber.

Btw, Topsy, come on down to Reynolds, Ga for a Georgia Lightning Owners Club day at the 1/4 mile races--on Sat. the 26th of Jan. See the GLOC board on nloc.org for more info.

HAHAHAHAHA

What are you talking about these belts slip a ton!
There kinda designed that way to save the blowers life and the motors life, but I've found a way to solve this problem with my own custom design.

Drive your truck at WOT and listen for the loud screeching noise. Thats when its slipping allot.

You would not believe how much more responsive this truck is with the belt tightened all the way to 200 foot pounds of TRQ. Hit the gas and your gone! No hesitation at all.

Eliminate slippage with Goodyears 5.4 supercharger Gatorback belt. 8 ribbed, pre-stretched, cross ribbed design.Myself and a couple of tuners had these belts made. I just received my order yesterday. Shoot me an email for more info.

Cool Gatorback

So far they have been installed on an L stock, a L with my upper pulley kit. a L with my upper pulley kit and my lower 2/3# lower pulley. So there are several applications.

Belt slippage with an eight rib system only if you are running a manhole cover size lower puller or a dwarf upper pulley. Now on the Vortech the problem has been people trying to maximize there boost with only a 6 rib pulley. They just need to get real. The Goodyear Gator back V-belts are great belts but don't get hosed there not new, maybe just some new sizes because of outragous pulley diameters.

You guys honestly think that gator back belt is going to help the belt slippage.

Here, its not a huge problem but I wanted to find a way to keep the belt from slipping and I did. That belt slips allot and you'll never know how much until you experience my truck first hand! I can get belt so tight that you can't barely move it at all with your hands up and down, side to side, any which way. Its solid like a rock!

I'm working on a patent for the design right now so I can't really show you, but trust me this thing is SO COOL!

RT...If you keep the belt that tight, the S/C front bearing will have a very short lifespan.

why doesn't someone build cog belt pulleys, top and bottom, like the big jimmy blowers?

I only keep it really tight when I race.

The tensionoir I designed is completly adjustable.

My experience with goodyear belts is this....

1. they are very expensive (2 - 3x others)

2. my cobra with a 6 rib S-trim would only make 11psi on other belts and they strecthed easily.

3. on a goodyear "gatorback" belt the strim made 14psi and I never strechted one out the whole time i used them.

In my experience the goodyear belt leads me to believe it will help tremendously with any belt slipage issues you might be having, It takes alot of force to slip a properly tensioned 8 rib serpentine belt IMHO so I would think it only worth while on a heavily modded truck.

I agree, Gatorback belts have always been in a class by themselves. My blown 96 TA relied on them. The Dayco belts were continually slipping.
