Have a nice day.

The only differences in the long blocks are:

1) forged pistons (and lower comp. ratio)
2) stronger piston pins
3) forged crank (although some regular F150 engines do have forged cranks as well).
4) Unique damper to allow blower pulley to thread on.

Same heads/cams/block, etc.

HI!... All "TRITON" engines have a forged steel crank. FORD does not make any cast cranks for the "TRITON" line.

Neal you are incorrect...all 4.6L truck engines have cast cranks. SOME 5.4L truck engines have cast cranks and some have forged cranks. I worked at the Windsor plant for 5 years...worked on a 'few' of them.

HI!... Well 4 of my buddies that work there currently and one of them for over 25 years totally disagree's with you. All 5.4 "TRITON" engines get a forged steel crank. The 4.6 car engines got the cast cranks except for the 4.6 32 valve in the older MARK 8's. They got forged cranks. You are right that the 4.6 "TRITON" engines get the nodular crank and not the forged. Here is also a quote straight from the "2001" FMS book :

5.4L SOHC

The 5.4L SOHC (2V) "TRITON" engine released in trucks in 1997 is producing favourable reactions. This engine has a cast iron block, forged steel crankshaft, full floating piston pins and special 6000rpm connecting rods. It's the 5.8L "pushrod engine" replacement.

Midway through the 1997 model year when the 5.4L was launched, they were all forged. However, starting in 1999 some of the light duty applications began using cast cranks.

HI!... Well all I know is that my "98" 5.4 crate engine has a forged steel crank. I had it tested to verify this. My "99"5.4 also has a forged crank.

Neal HI!... let the boy ask questions. If you dont like reading the same question then dont click on the little button. If you want there are things called FAQ boards where the communist hang out. You a commi? Sometimes an old question is asked and wisdom has found a newer answer. What if between 99 and 01 ford made an update and poor mr newbie came along and said, "well this is a message board but why would I ask questions. I mean people dont type new answers here.... trucks dont change" and then happy mr newbie read all kinds of stuff about the '99s 80mm MAF and said... hmmmm i think if i put a mew MAF on my '01 L i'd free up airflow.... so he or she goes out and buys a 90mm MAF and then realizes DOH it's already a 90mm.... "why didn't i ask a question. i guess ford updated it... WHY AM I A COMMUNIST!!!!" .... So wananicecar ask away even if the "Thought Police" ridicule you ill still try and answer because I remember when I didn't know much about my truck.... still dont but anyways take care yall
