twelve seconds on TWO wheels
As exhilirating as it is to move 4600 pounds a quarter mile in 12 secs, it must really be a blood pumper to do it on two wheels.
Any L owners drag race their bike? Stories?
I was watching Speedvision and there was a story on a new division for Cruisers. Mostly stock street bikes limited to 1500cc's.
For ****z and giggles I have thought about taking my 1450cc bagger down the strip with my son in the next lane in my L.
Now THAT would be a video for grandma!

That would be cool to see... your L and your bike going down the track at the same time. But depending on the bike it should run faster than a 12 in the 1/4.
Dad and I have raced side by side at the track be for. I was in the Tbird and he was in the L. He gave me three lengths at the tree and still beat the Tbird by a car length in the end. But all the other runs where we went heads up, I tree'd him! The Tbird really needs it's new motor...

While were on the subject of 2 wheels there is a guy at my local track that has a show truck that does wheelies and have witnessed 3 times him running mid 9's in the 1/4 at over 145mph on 2 wheels the whole way down the track with the front tires way high in the air. Very scary to watch i have seen him abort the run a few times about half way down the track because it was getting loose on him.

I love to ride, and have run the 1/4 mile on my 99 ZX9 at a 10.7@133 mph. That bike was a blast to ride, but I figured after 14 years of riding crotch rokets and doing some really stupid things on them it was time to slow down. We do not have a helmet law in Maine and I have never worn one while ridding on the street and I have a serious need for speed. I have been up to about 175-180 on my 9 side by side with my brother in law with his 9, with a good friend back a little on his CBR900RR he only got up to about 165 or so. Anyway like I was saying we always did stupid ***** when we rode and my friend on the CBR in my opinion was going to get hurt or killed trying to stay with my brother in law and me. Not that the bike wouldn't stay with us, I think it was just him not twisting the throttle all the way or short shifting. So I decided to slow down and I bought a Harley, My friend followed my lead and bought one just after I did, My brother in law bought a Polaris Victory and traded his 9 in. We still fool around but we don't have to go up to 140 to 160 everytime we go for a ride like we use to. I have been down a couple of times, high school era, drinking and riding a motorcycle do not mix, let me rephrase that drinking and driving doesn't mix period, but most people probably have at one time or another and know what I mean.
ICULOKN,
I know your pain, I have been down and had some good road rash and know how uncomfortable that is, I have also broke 7 ribs, punctured a lung,(had it calapse) and did a class three seperation on my right shoulder. It is not fun to have to lay around and wait for your body to heal, but you take it easy and a special Happy Holidays to you for still being with us.
Well, I guess that is enough of me jabering on, so, Everyone be safe and have a great holiday.

Master of Pain: what have you done to get your VMAX to run like that? I have a 88 VMAX with a stage 7 kit and 4 into 2 into one headers on it with a competition baffle. It's quick, but I don't think it will get close to the 9's. It's only got 16,ooo miles on it. Haven't ridden it in over 5 years. I put 10000 miles on it the first year I had it. I love the bike, just don't have time to ride it, I work 7 days a week and really don't have anyone to ride with. I think that if I rode it now, it would probably feel like it would run in the 8's............................lol................ ............................Phatford

It takes a bunch of work to get an R1 in the nines. They put out 122-125rwhp. I own a GSX1300R hayabusa that puts out 160rwhp and I clicked off a 9.87 (my best run ever) I never got beat by an R1 and I weigh 235lbs! Takes a lot to get a V-Max in the nines two, since an R-1 can beat a V-max you have to go deep in the engine to get those numbers.Best bikes to run 10 secs or under are a Hayabusa,ZX12 or a GSX1000R everything else needs a teardown and a fist- ful of $$
