I always have a hard time cleaning my rims on my 01' Lightning. Getting behind them is a killer and i usually end up cutting my fingers. Does anyone have any easy ways of cleaning them or suggestions on how to get them clean easier.

I found a brush at Target the other day that works great for the insides of the wheels! I got tired of cutting my fingers, too. Especially on the rear wheels!

The first thing I do is go to one of those self service bays at the car wash and spray a healthy amount of Simple Green on them. Then I blast em with the high pressure hose real good so when I go back home to do the actually washing, they dont require that much attnetion. Peace

When I'm feeling energetic I take the off so I can get the lugs and holes real good also.

These wheels are definitely not the hardest wheels to clean I have seen. On my Cobra, you HAVE to take the wheels off to clean the inside.

The more you clean them, the more the scar tissue builds up.
Mine are clean as a whistle and I don't lose nearly as much blood as I used to.

I'm really happy that I'm not the only one building up the scar tissue! I am real obsessive about cleaning everything and that little cotter pin bites you good don't it?

Problem solved, just finished washing "Black Beauty" and i used a mit to get into the rims. No cuts and the mit is allright and i also got most of the brake dust off. I guess this will have to do for now until i can figure out an easier way. Thanks for the replys.

Take the wheels off. No problem then.

Eagle One A to Z wheel cleaner works great for me.

Make sure your rims are cool, spray the rims down real well, and hose them off.

Wink

Soapy water and a wash mit are all you need. Reach in there and go to town without any cuts or scrapes.

I use a wash mit also. Can stuff it right in between the spokes.

i clean them when i rotate my tire every 2500 miles.
i know you don't have to rotate that often, but it is killing 2 birds with one stone and my tires wear better.
