Thumbs up Harley-Davidson Wheels.....

Hey everyone,
I bought some Harley-Davidson wheels a couple weeks back from a junk yard really cheap with tires. They look great on the lightning but, the only problem I have is on traction. Launching, the tires spin alot more than with the F-1's, I know the Goodyear tires are not as good as the F-1s and also know that they are a 1/5 inch thinner. Stock Lightning wheels 9.5 inches, harley just 9. What tires do you guys recommened for better taction and overall performance?

I dont think its the Rim size I think its the tire size. If you are using the 275/45/20 GT11's that come on the Harley that can be some of it. I have them on my 20's. I can roll it out fine though. With my mods I was killing the F1's or the 20's so it really didnt matter to me!!

I too would like to see pics of thsoe HD wheels with the Lightning. I've been pondering it myself. But can't get 'em cheap. If you found them in the junk yard, that's more than a good find. Good score. I've been contimplating trading my '01 wheels for someone's '99 or '00 wheels, 'cause I like them better. But I don't want to part with any of the original equipment from this truck due to the limited production/collectors item issue involved.

I would post pictures but dont have a scanner or digital camera. I bought the wheels for $1500. with tires. They cost like $600. on karkraft.com each. The wheels look great i think. I am hoping to attend the meeting that is getting organized for february in Baltimore. Maybe see some of you there.

FYI:

The HD tires (Eagle II) are extremely hard. They have a standard wear pattern and should go 30+k miles.

Sorry Vruhm. Like I was saying before. I'd like to keep all of the stock pieces that get replaced by mods for when the day of putting the truck back together the way I found it comes into play.

I do like the inset star style of the '99-'00 better than the punched out star style of the '01-'02 models though. Not in the market for rims just yet. One mod at a time.

Thanx Clonetek for the Photoshopped pics. That helps. Not looking too bad with those rims. Hmmmmm.
