Most people show bad timeslips when coming out of the whole due to tire spinning. Not on a 50+ roll. Your talking about a car that runs mid 12's @ 118+ mph. Put some good tire under it and watch it go into the 11's. NO STOCK L will handle that from any roll, LOL sorry....

Thanks for posting that. Here's a timeslip of a stock '02 Z06. Ok, I guess it's not stock because the only mod is 2 ET Streets. http://www.z06vette.com/forums/attac...=&postid=72856
And here's the lovely ET Streets. *LOL* http://www.z06vette.com/forums/attac...=&postid=72891
Those have got to be THE ugliest rim/tire combo I've ever seen. But they do work.....

Boostin01L, celltech, teblmm: If you all are ever close to Nashville, let me know and we can see what happens when a stock Z06 runs a basically stock L. We can go from a dead stop and then from a roll(you name the speed).

BoostinL: Calm down. I wasn't flaming anyone. Just offering some friendly runs. Most people think there really is a 20hp difference between the '01 and '02 Z06. FACT is, most '01 owners are dynoing between 390-400hp and most '02 owners are dynoing between 405-410hp. Yeah, there's a difference, but it's not as big as Chevy wants you to think there is......

Angry

I know Boostin01L.He's not a bull*****ter. He and I rode next to that Z-06 for quite a while.I told him on the cel phone that the Z-06 would spank us from a 60 mph roll but there was no shame in losing if he ran it.I turned off to go a different direction as the 2 of them got on the freeway.I knew the Vette would try him on the open road.Boostin called me a few minutes later on the cel and was really stoked about holding the Z-06 through 100 until Trooper activity shut the game down.

Boostin is genuine, stand up guy.He is very proud of his hard earned, stock Lightning. He would never lie just to impress any one.I told him to post his story.Back off and lower your BS flags. If he said it happened.......it happened!Instead of calling him a lier, you should be proud to have a guy like this as one of us.I'll fight anyone that says otherwise................

Boostin01L,

Not trying to say you lying in any way, I just find it hard to believe based upon my races with them. What was on the side of the car?

A street race is in many cases different that a Car and Driver professional driver running the quarter mile at a track, try after try, until they get the best run. An auto is MUCH easier to put your foot down, very consistant. I've lost many street races driving sticks. Launchiing at too low/high of revves, shifting too soon/too late, etc. I remember Car and Driver testing the Honda S2000, i don't remember the exact #'s but they ran a slew of 0-60's in the 7 second range. It took them a bunch of tries to get the 5.5 second best run. What my point is, like others, is that you have to drive a PERFECT stick to get the quoted times of magazines. The good time slips at the track are usually from trying it over and over again. If a 13.0 car doesn't do so hot in the shifting department, it could easily be a 14.0 car, time after time until they get it right.

Boostin01L,

Tell you what man, If you honestly feel you can run with Z06 (01), When I get to FL we can meet up and play. Hell I will even let you take off first. Sorry man, NO STOCK L will run near a Z06 at anytime, from a roll in the 1/4, or 0-140. Ill find one and come wherever just to play. I can BARELY beat the 01's in mine, and I have lots of mods.

If you did beat one, saver the flavor, I doubt it will happen again!! I dont wana sound rude, I had a Z06 on order, I love that ride, as I do my L. But reality is reality.

Could be a case of "not racing "

I bet once a day I get passed by some poser at full throttle who goes to his or her forum and brags that they beat a Lightning.

If you dont hear the scream of my blower and see the spinning of my tires I wasnt trying... No matter how fast I was going

A kid with a fart pipe and yellow accents screamed past me in traffic Friday.... If there isnt 1/2 mile of open road I wont even go to 2/3 throttle - Its not worth it... No doubt he is bragging on some fart pipe board.

If the guy knows how to drive, it you are toast.

I saw a guy running 11.90's with one the other day. Slicks and juice, is all it took.

No other mods.

I find this almost to funny!

I raced a Z06 and won, on the street not the track.

There was no staging lights, prepreped track, or even a notion that there was a preset race about to happen.

We just nailed it at the light, I didn't spin to bad nor did I hear tire spin from him. It was just neck and neck until I backed off at about 100.

Like the above guy said, most of these numbers are created by trying 30 different things on a perfect track until their results are in line with what they expect.

I probably beat that Z06 by turning a 14.5, by the way my heart was beating like it was trying to kill me. Maybe his heart was also beating like mine, in the oh ***** am I going to get caught here doing this *****.

All I know is I won, no big deal. No woman at the first stop light came running over to me to kiss me, nor did I win $1 million bucks. I just drove to work afterwards and told the BMW dirvers.

Live with it, these things just happen.

celltech, I all comes down to the driver. I've raced vettes at the track to and smoked them too.

The six speed cars are a little tricky to launch. If they spin, they loose. If they don't, they usually stay a conple of lengths back.
