What about Trucks tracs on a Lightning with composite leaf springs The spring thickness is allot thinner than the stock steel setup. Plus would the snubber hitting the glass springs put too much upward force on them? Any sugestions? Jeff

Richard, you will probably need the Hotchkis or Roush adaptors, depending on the spring thickness.

Our stock springs are 1 1/2" thick. If your springs are 1" thick, you will need the Hotchkis adapers, and if they are 1 1/4" thick, you will need the Roush adaptors.

You probably won't need a snubber spacer, because the springs are much flatter that the stock ones. That makes the snubber clearance reduced. If anything, you will probably need to cut down the snubber or purchase a shorter one.

Jeff's Lightning. I wouldn't clamp anything to a fiberglass spring. It will crush the corners of the spring and may damage them. I would use a Cal Trac or similar traction bar that clamps onto the u-bolt for that application.

I also have the 2 in. rear drop. I installed the Truck Tracs Thursday and have way to much clearance between the snubber and the spring. Was able to close the gap some but not enough. Did you guys have to use shims or spacers to get your snubber clearance down to 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 in. I've talk with Jay about this and he suggested his spacer kit. I need to close this gap up at least another 3/4 in.

Just wondering if you had this problem and how you solved it. At the track yesterday they were not even touching the springs.

Thanks.
I would try working the T-Ts as far forward as you can(stay clear of the exhaust on the rt. side) then if you're still too far away, get the spacers from Jay. Mine are about 1" from the spring.

I have been running Truck-Traks on my truck for a little while and have had no problems. I have 2" drop shackles, and no spacers, the distance is about 2 1/4". I did notice that moving the Truck-Traks as far forward helped quite a bit. With that much distance they do not seem to help with street tires, but I will be getting the spacers soon.

My 60ft times @ Cecil were all between 1.667 to 1.663. At my local track, Atco my best has been 1.707.

Jay,

I have stock leaf springs. I used hangers on the front of the rear and shakels on the back of the rear. Does this mean I will not need spacers?

Richard, I will need to take some measurements on my truck, I'll email you with the results. This is a new application I haven't seen yet. It appears that it won't be a problem, but I want to check it out.
