I like the idea of having some sort of cool little thing we can put next to our name, i'd be willing to donate any amount,, expecially if you are considered a non for profit organization,, hell i need the tax break, small business owners get hit hard no matter how much of it is yours.

Talking cash ????

I know this might be asking alot in this day of credit cards and wire transfer and things like paypal. But do you think he might accept "cash??". I know it might be un-american to ask to do it this way, but there's always a chance, right?

Steve,

Your Hyundai is supercharged, though, right? I mean, you did mod it, didn't you? You wouldn't drive a stock Hyundai, would you? A modified Hyundai would be kinda cool, cause no one else would have one. Not that many people have Hyundai's to begin with, let alone one with a blower. We'll keep it in house, though. It's not like we would go on the web and tell all of North America that you have a Hyundai. I'll throw down five bucks to keep the only blown Hyundai in the country running. I bet you give them Lightning boys a run for their money.

Let’s reread Webmeister Steve’s post on the 1st page.

While I sincerely appreciate the gesture, the reasons contributions will not work (other than my ethical reasons) is because this site has far surpassed a trivial monthly cost that could be covered by personal contributions.

Our server "rent" now exceeds $1500 per month because of the bandwidth and memory required for this site (see thread in Site Announcements). Our next hardware jump would likely add $500 to $750 per month to that cost (most likely a dedicated server for the database) and there would still be no guarantee that the problem would be fixed.
Sounds to me like he may need ‘our next hardware jump’ to keep up this HUGE database we’ve developed and hopefully get the search engine running again. This will cost >$2,000/month or $25,000 a year! That’s 5,000 of us tossing in $5 each (plus processing costs). I don’t think it’s gonna happen, even though that would be less than half the members contributing. Plus you always get the half of us that are ‘takers’ wining that the ‘Internet should be free’ and such.

Steve gives us our direction here:
FYI, the advertisers, supporting vendors and online store do cover this amount every month...enough to keep the site running, but there's not enough extra for me to even cover a car payment. Ok, well maybe the payment on a Hyundai, but that's about it.
We need to support the Advertisers and Supporting Vendors and buy stuff from the Online Store. Then maybe he can trade that Hyundai in for a Lightning!
