Didnt even occur to me! Man. And look how close the lower pulley is to that idler... Theyre trying to make it difficult.. Im sure that there was limited space. It does make for a clean looking install.

Changing the lower pulley would not only speed up the blower, but everything else! I guess if you wanted more boost you would have to change the upper pulley, and there can be problems associated with that!

Yes, but the one that drives the blower is also on the alternator in that pic.... Maybe things will change by production?

Also looks like what I thought was an idler, is the powersteering?? The one just to the right of the blower pulley... they are pretty close together.

That's a smaller blower than what's on the L isn't it? I believe Saleen, Roush, etc. using the Eaton M90.

4.6 & 390hp

OK -so it's a 4.6 and has a smaller blower but puts out 10 more HP than the 5.4 L. Have they just used a larger pulley and beefed the internals? Anyone know how they're getting higher numbers?

It has to do with the Cobra's 4 valves per cylinder and 7000 rpm redline. The larger pulley is actually to slow the blower speed down on the higher revving 4.6 liter 4 valve. Naturally aspirated the Cobra engine was rated at 320 HP vs. the 260? HP rating on the standard 5.4 liter engine. It is amazing that Ford is only picking up an additional 70 HP from the blower on these engines. Many of the centrifically supercharged Cobra's are well over the 500 HP mark.

P.S. I also have a 70 Mach1 project(for 22 years now) and a 70 Sportsroof project(for 20 years now)

SVT Tech

The tech said the 4.6L DOHC was majorly detuned. Only 6lbs. of boost is being put out right now.
Just wait until tuners get ahold of that.
