No dealers will accept X-plan!

I just called three local dealers (in the Chicago area), and none of them will accept X-plan on SVT vehicles. How did you guys find a dealer than was willing to deal on these trucks?

You've only checked three dealerships. What do you want, them to come to you. I probably checked at least 10.

Expand your search.

I found my L over the internet in Kansas City. I live in Tulsa OK. Made the deal over the phone with X plan pricing (also I had no trade in), bought it sight unseen on a Friday 10/5/01. Flew to KC 10/6, the salesman picked me up at the airport and took me to the dealership. I had the option to change my mind on vehicles to red or black or to even canecl the deal (not likely), though the only white one had a big sold sign on it (for me). Took the white one for a test ride, and ninety minutes after arriving at the dealership I was on my way back to Tulsa in my new L, no surprises whatsoever. I was extrememly satisfied with the purchasing experience I had at Extreme Ford KC and salesman Robert Carter.

Mike Bass Ford in Cleveland took the A Plan and took good care of me. I live in NY, and I took a plane ride to pick up the truck. The trip home help with the break in. New York dealers were on some real bull*****. Call or email Tom Turton at Mike Bass Ford.

Often, if you offer to order, instead of taking dealer stock, they will do it. The first 2 I asked both will.

Maybe its a southern thing (j/k) but, every dealer (5 dealers between SC and GA) i emailed or called was willing to do the X plan.
$28,830.88 +tax and tags is what i paid.... the sticker was $32,490

For the savings it would be well worth a plane ticket!

If you want some phone #'s or email addresses just let me know.

Good luck!

Look around, they are out there.

They are out there, you just have to keep checking around. Call on a rainy weekday or just before it snows. I live in the SW 'burbs of Chicagoland. Last week I called about a half dozen dealers, asking to speak with the Ford truck sales managers at each location. I asked them "Hello. I'm interested in a Ford Lightning. Will you honor X-plan pricing on one?" Three of them said "uhh... sure, ok." The rest "No!". OK, first weeding done. Whether to do X-plan pricing is entirely up to the whim of the sales manager at that dealership at that moment. I caught them at a good time, as it was cold and rainy that day. Once they agreed, I got their name and promised I'd look them up if I decided to come in.

Here are the three that agreed to do X-plan last week:
Willlowbrook Ford
Packey-Webb (I think) in Oak Lawn (I know for sure)
Rizza Ford of Orland Park

Last night I went to Rizza Ford, asked to speak with the truck sales manager. I introduced myself and reminded him of our conversation. He agreed to still honor X-plan pricing on an 02 Lightning. He pulled the invoice and ran my PIN and the numbers. Good price: about $29K. I mentioned my trade and he said "OK - we'll evaluate your trade while you do a test drive. What color do you want?" SILVER. After I got back the deal was handed over to a salesman. The trade offer was decent. I said, "Let's do this." The entire time the staff was very courteous and professional. It fact, it was the best experience I've ever had at a domestic auto dealer. I highly recommend them.

I don't know if they'll do another one, but check around.

The only problem: I'm still giggling like a little girl and I can't get this stupid grin off of my face!
